I have such fond and loving memories of Larry growing up and reconnecting as adults in the early 90's. I have just found out that he passed last year, and I wish to offer Eileen and his family my sincerest best wishes. While not connected over the years, he and you, Eileen have a warm place in my heart. God bless you all.

Eileen, Learning just now of the passing of Larry. He was the epitome of a caring person. I know that while he will be missed by many, his personality will remain by all.

Larry was such a fixture for us on Long Wharf, a friend, and partner in so many endeavors with the City. His job as a pilot, not at all an easy one in all weather, year round. It is is with some pride that we were chosen to design those boats that the pilots trusted with their lives, as we remember Larry.

Dear Chris and Family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He was such a great man. As a young Dockboy, Larry always took time to say hello. Even later on in life while on Tugboats I would see him as a pilot and he continued to make time to stop and check in. He was a true gentleman. My deepest sympathies to you all. Sean Tempesta

Dear Eileen and Chris and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Larry's death, but reading his wonderful and loving obituary brings back so many amazing memories of what your entire family has contributed to Boston Harbor and the South Shore. He, and Dick Nakashian, and you all were what got our ferries underway to Hingham in 1975 and thereafter...and look where we are today! It always seemed like home to visit on the Venus, the Bay State Cruises tugboat office at Long Wharf, and always so good in later years to catch up with Larry on the other side of the wharf at the Waterboat Marina. I loved the waterfront activity in those early days, and the creative and hardworking people there. Salt of the earth! Larry stands out among them. We have to write a book about these waterfront times, Eileen! But meanwhile, may your wonderful memories sustain you. Sending love and condolences, and thanks, for all he and you have done for Boston Harbor over all these years.

Eileen and family...
So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. Although I've known him for nearly forty years from working on the other side of the wharf with Chris back in the old Bay State days with Dick our boss. I'd only see him only occasionally around Long Wharf, or if heading over to the marina to borrow the Eagle on days off, and of course all the crew parties. But certainly knew what a helpful and kind individual he was, always willing to help out, always friendly and don't believe I ever saw him get upset about anything! He was practically a one man institution for Boston Harbor, and certainly knew the better than most anyone else throughout his long career. May I offer my deepest condolences...
Respectfully,
Brian Brailsford

Eileen, we are so sorry for the loss that you are enduring. Larry always offered a wonderful, bright persona with a warm welcome, a quick wit and a fun to be with presence. We enjoyed visiting with him at the marina, on Martha's Vineyard and at so many family gatherings over the years. He will be missed. Every time we visit the waterfront area we will feel the imprint that he left on it and the seafaring legacy that he has left behind.
May the wonderful memories that you created and shared with him forever buoy you up and provide you with calm, smooth sailing as you begin this new voyage without him!

As the father of a wonderful son-in law, it was my pleasure to know and see Larry at family events. Unfortunately, they are often short and far between, but it was always a delight to sit and talk with Larry, get a few comments and that wonderful smile. I have missed him and every time I go through Boston, I will look over and give another thought of simply a "great guy". We shall talk again. Chuck Sulkala

I met Larry as a member of the Boston Police Harbor Patrol around 1992. I was new to the Unit, but Larry was always there to give advice and talk about the history of the Harbor then, and throughout my time at the Unit. He Always had a smile, and always willing to help. My deepest condolences and prayers are with Larry and his family. God Bless !

So sorry to hear of Larrys passing. I enjoyed the years of working with him on many of the ships that called on the Port of Boston.
Also many of the visits to the "Waterboat Marina" with my private vessel & his yearly dock "events"!
He will be missed!
