Lawrence Cockrum Obituary

Memorial services for Lawrence Cockrum, Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, at First Christian Church in Tyler with Dr. Chris Pulliam and the Rev. Fred Bendall officiating. A private burial will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas at a later date.

Mr. Cockrum was born Jan. 10, 1937, in Fort Worth to the late Wayne E. and Elaine Cockrum. He died on May 5, 2010, at his home. Mr. Cockrum graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and served in the Army National Guard. Lawrence spent most of his career in the industrial food catering business in Dallas. He was a member of First Christian Church in Tyler. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing laughs with those around him.

Mr. Cockrum was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Holloway Cockrum.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Terry Cockrum of Tyler; daughter, Vicki Kintz of Dallas; brothers, Walt Cockrum and wife Kate of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, John Cockrum and wife Bonnie of Grand Prairie; sister, Martha Hall and husband Jim of Boerne; grandchildren, Jared and Grace Cockrum of Tyler, Amanda Aguilar, Chris Cotton and Lee Kintz of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 4202 South Broadway, Tyler, 75701.

Arrangements under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler.
