LAWRENCE MATTHEW ELLES
November 1, 1935 – June 10, 2017
It is with great sadness and wonderful memories that the family announces his unexpected passing at home with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Ivy, and son-in-law Jason by his side. Predeceased by his parents and sibling, his daughter Shauna, granddaughter Brandi-Lee and son-in-law Wilfred. Left to cherish his memory are; his wife Elizabeth, his children; Luke (Janice), Albert (Denise), Donna (Gene), Rhonda (Pete), Danny (son-in-law), Rhoda, Sharon (Steven), Barclay (Glenna), Lawrence Jr. (Nicole), Elsie (Robbie), Ivy (Jason), grandchildren; Nicole, Darrell, Tara, Kayla, Mandi, Dillion, Tyson, Raymond, Geanine, Riley, Jessie, Ronnie, Chance, Tricia, Courtney, Matthew, Joshua, Holly, Shaun, Ashley, Natasha, Steven, Angeline, Jacob, Jessica, Christopher, Brock, Bronson, Brae-lyn, Elsie, Hannah, Avah, Xavier, Kenton, Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin, Jayce, 28 great-grandchildren; sisters; Elsie (Keith) and Margaret (Al); sister-in- law Betty, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lawrence was born in Markinch, SK of Hungarian descent. He grew up on the family farm near the R.M. of Touchwood, SK. He worked for CN Rail and continued to farm. He eventually moved to Regina and worked for Isman's Hide & Furs for 26 years. When Isman's closed their business dad worked for a short time with Regina Exhibition. Once dad retired, mom and dad bought an acreage near Cupar where they resided for 26 wonderful years. Dad enjoyed all his children and grandchildren and was very proud of them. He was a man of a few words, his love was displayed from a look over his glasses, a touch of his warm hand and sassy comments. He was an excellent gardener, a wonderful cook and if you needed to catch up on The Young and the Restless or the Jays game you could call dad for an update. Dad and mom's home was always open to all family and friends. Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Many thanks to his son-in-law, Robbie for everything from taking them their groceries to fixing the furnace, shoveling the snow, and whatever else was needed. Uncle Lawrence was a quiet, humble man. I have many memories of him throughout my life. The fun weekend parties. The older but awesome music. Uncle Lawrence's special jig dance (there's no real name for his suave moves). The loving way he called for his wife. You could always hear him call mum and how loyal and loving Aunty Liz was with him. She'd jump right up from whatever she was doing and say Hun. What did you need. Great role models in our family (Aunty's Uncles & Parents) to teach us relationship life lessons. I'll always remember the hard working hands and one of my fav smells when he returned from working at Eizmans Hide & Fur. His good cooking. Instant coffee (which started my like for the taste of coffee). His gardens and plants. His love of antiques and the old ways. Last but not least his kindness and welcoming to anyone who would stop in for a visit. I take comfort knowing he was welcomed by a few of his old drinking buddies. Which includes my dad. I'm sure they're catching up. Neither men of many words but the conversations and time together they did share was a deep friendship. Another Angel added to our Army of Angels that will still guide watch over us and be with us everyday forever. May you rest your hard working body and enjoy all of your favorite things with Sunny Skies encircled with warmth. You will never be forgotten but Always thought of Always missed. Please comfort Aunty Liz and all of your Family and remind them you are still with them everyday. RIP Uncle. Till we meet again in heaven.
