Lawrence Fox Obituary
Born in Pittsfield, MA, the son of Larry E. and Paula A. Fox of Lenox, MA, he had resided in Dartmouth for the past 14 years.
Larry was a United States Navy veteran having served for 6 years.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from U-Mass Amherst and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Worcester Poly Tech Institute.
Larry formerly worked for General Electric for several years after graduating from their elite Manufacturing Management Program, then worked for Lightolier and Genlyte Thomas Group for many years as Director of Sourcing and then for the Phillips Company as Chief Procurement Officer. Most recently, he worked for DM Technology & Energy, Inc., as Vice President of Sales.
Larry was a Dartmouth Town Meeting member and a former Finance Committee member where he was most proud of bringing all of the departments together to share information and to work for the betterment of the town. He was a former Dartmouth Youth Soccer coach, a former Dartmouth Youth Athletic Baseball coach and a former member of the Junior Achievement Program. He was the recipient of the 2005 RAPP Southcoast Hospitals Father of the Year Award.
Larry's proudest achievements were his children, Ryan, Kendall and Courtney Fox. To each of them he instilled the value of hard work, the success of education and the value of giving back to the community.
He was the beloved husband of Laura Fox; loving father of Ryan Fox, Kendall Fox and Courtney Fox; and treasured son of Larry E. Fox and Paula A. Fox. He leaves behind six brothers and sisters, Tammy Fox-Garrity and her husband, Bob Garrity, Carl Fox and his wife, Trish, William Fox and his wife, Pond, Christle Guinyard, Michael Fox and Joseph Fox. He was also loved by his in-laws, Joe-Anne and Kent Shepherd, brother-in-law, Gregory MacLean and sister-in-law, Susan Burke. He was the uncle to many nieces and nephews and leaves behinds several aunts and uncles. He also leaves behind three special and loving family friends, Kevin Custodio, Karim Fernandes and Elisa Duguay who he treated as his own.
He leaves behind countless friends and he touched the hearts of many. He was a great human being who helped many in need, and set a great example of giving back.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours on Friday 4-8pm. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, N. Dartmouth.

Dear Laura & Family,
My prayers and thoughts have been with you and your entire family through this difficult time. I said/say a special prayer for Larry and members of my family who have fought this hard fight.
We had some fine times as neighbors at the Silk Mill in Florence. I have had a basket with a plant that you asked me to take when you moved. It now holds a very special place in my heart.

there are no words to make our loss any easier....larry was the best..and he would want us to remeber his life with the good memories with him..the laughing..soccer and everything he did as a human was amazing..he was my big brother he taught me how to drive..he helped me with my math homework and watched me play soccer ..ill never forget my brother he is always in my heart..when i was real little my dad used to take me to pick larry up for christmas leave when he was in the navy...i remeber givivng him the biggest of hugs...when i saw him..i have many great memories of him too many to put on here here..yeah i miss him..alot..i love him.. i wish i couldve said good bye..i hope to see you all at christmas time..i wish we had more time together when i was here.... i love you all.....michael

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the loss of Larry. Along the way of dong buisness Larry and i struck up a friendship over the years, and I will miss him. He was so very proud of his family which was clearly a top priority in his life. Larry was a gifted person with a commitment to doing his best and making a difference in all he endevoured. So many wonderful memories of growing up next door to the Fox's! Kickball games, riding bikes, building forts in the woods (Tammy and I posting ours "Girls Only" to keep Gig and Larry out), our parents driving us out to "the Penguin" for ice cream, trick-or-treating together, playing chess. Very few people you encounter in life have an instantaneous effect in one's perception of the moment. Larry was such a man. Though we only met a few times, he and I would share phone conversations in the course of business and the overwhelming sense of family, pride and devotion he exhibited was a constant thread. An enthusiastic and compassionate man about everything he did and was involved in! I enjoyed going to and sitting next to him at the girls soccer games (His Daughter,my niece). We really had to keep in eye on each other to make sure we weren't getting out of line in cheering the Dartmouth girls soccer team on!
There are not to many people who you can go to and develop an immediate bond with Lawrence put you at ease with just a look.
