Bernice Harned

Bernice F. Harned, nee Ballett, 94, of Belleville, Ill., born Thursday, Dec. 28, 1916, in Venice, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Harned worked as a bookkeeper for National City Cold Storage. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Sunday School Class, Phi Beta Kappa and was a Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Harned; parents, David and Lillian, nee Friese, Ballett; son, Robert C. Ospring; brother, John Ballett; sister, Mildred Dees; grandson, Nicholas Moffatt; son-in-law, Ben Neuharth.

Surviving are her daughters, Susan Neuharth of Belleville, Ill., and Linda (John) Moffatt of Okawville, Ill.; step-daughter, Judy (Russ) Hartmann of Swansea, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Sandra Hardin of Little Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law, Mildred Ballett of Cahokia, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael Ospring, Christine Startz, Carrie Ospring, Rebecca Cardona, Brandy Neuharth, John Moffatt Jr., Kim Gallo, Scott Moffatt, Ashley Moffatt and Vickie Hartmann; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2010, at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Kurrus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
