To the Jacoby Family,
Dr. Lawrence Jacoby was a great doctor to both my father and I. We just learned of the news today. We are both saddened and shocked. I will always remember the story he told me about his brother being at the World Series in 2004 cheering on the Red Sox. We will deeply miss him.
Sincerely,

I just learned of Dr Jacoby's passing. I was a patient for close to 15 yrs before moving to Florida, he was a wonderful Dr and friend, and lamented that he was jealous that I got to retire at 55, I wish he had too, but he was doing what he loved, that was obvious. My thoughts go out to his family. My Daughter Michelle was a patient as well as a classmate of his son's, we are both saddened by his passing

I just learned of Dr. Jacoby's passing this morning. I was surprised and saddened to hear this - I always thought of him as a good-humored, robust and healthy man. More than a doctor, he was a good man and a friend. With good taste, too - as others have mentioned, I also admired that John & Yoko print! Larry, it was truly my pleasure to know you - thanks!

I just learned today the sad news that Dr. Jacoby has passed away; I last saw him last August. I did not know that he was ill at the time, and I was next scheduled to see him next month. I was a patient of his for more than 20 years and know that he was highly regarded. On the lighter side, I particularly enjoyed hearing his funny stories about how he came to be friends with the actor Leslie Nielsen and their long-standing friendship.

My condolences to Larry Jacoby's family. I've known him for about 29 years when he built a house in our neighborhood in Simsbury and our daughter was in his son's class at Simsbury High. My children and I have been to his office many times for care and have always known him to be a caring and positive physician. He will greatly missed by all who knew him.

To the family and office staff of Dr. Jacoby, It's hard to express in a few words how much I, as a patient appreciated him as a doctor. His love and compassion for his work and his patients was very clear to see and his energy seem to be boundless. So many other doctors I have seen in the past year only agreed with me that I was seeing the best, when I mention his name. I am so sorry for your lost and thank you for sharing him with his patients and his community. God Bless Donna Fracasso

I was very upset and saddened to hear of Dr. Jacoby's passing. I just saw him a few months ago and although I knew he was ill, one is never prepared for the news. He was so brave and strong and continued working despite his illness. He will be missed by my entire family who saw him for many years. He was a kind and wonderful doctor, very patient and reassuring. Our most heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife and family.

I just heard about Dr. Jacoby's passing and was so saddened and shocked by the news. I was a patient for almost 17 years while living in Connecticut and also made sure I kept in contact either with a visit on my trips back or with a phone call. He was a kind, friendly person - always pleasant and with a smile. He was a great doctor and will be missed. My condolences to all his family.

My husband and I are so sad to know that beloved Larry is gone. My husband said he was the only doctor - of many - that he ever looked forward to seeing. He had such a big heart, he had such great intelligence and depth of character. He was one of the most caring persons we ever knew - which is why soooo many patients saw him as a friend. It must be terribly difficult for you all in the family. Please accept our deepest condolences. My husband knew him for 40 years and swam with him in W. Hartford. I've known him for almost a decade and he was much loved by me too. My memory of this brilliant and good-natured man will last as long as I live. We can't believe he is gone -much too soon - much too young - but we are so glad he is not suffering. That he gave of himself to his patients to the bitter end is a sign of his selfless greatness. He had confided his condition to us a while back and I immediately suggested he take a trip and enjoy every minute in as extravegant way as possible. He showed us where his priorities were. He was 1000% a mensch. A good man, a good soul.
With great affection always,

Jacoby Family,
Our 5 year old daughter suffered from eczema since she was an infant and was prescribed many different medications. We finally went to Dr. Jacoby a year ago. He said give me a month and we will "win". We sure did win. He worked wonders and she has been medication free since. Our daughter said "we will have to continue winning ourselves". She will also miss his tickles. Our deepest sympathy.

Jacoby Family:
I have just heard of Dr.Jacoby's passing and I am truly saddened by this news. I have been a patient for years like many who have written here and it is extremely obvious as to the respect and love he gained from the people he treated! His life touched many and his spirit will live on. My fondest memory is the time he took to listen and comfort me when I spoke to him of the skin cancer that took my father from me. His words of comfort and strength were of an enormous benefit to me as I tried to come to terms with my loss. I send my deepest sympathies to your family and hope that the memories you have help you through this time.

my mother was one of dr. jacoby's first patients when he opened his avon practice many years ago. once every so often she mentions his name and wishes that she could continue to see him for dermatology issues. (we both reside in maine now) she always looked upon him as a doctor of great wisdom and comforting personality. i had the pleasure of meeting him on one occasion as a patient and share my mother's opinion to the full extent. he will be missed greatly, however we should find peace in knowing that he is now reunited with his son.

I have been a patient of Doctor Jacoby's for for 20 yrs. or so. I attempted to make an appointment recently. I was told that he had cut back on his hours and it was requested that I schedule with another. I made a joke in reference to his success and supposed recreation. It was then that the adminstrative assistant informed me that this time restriction was due to health reasons. I apologized for being flippant and scheduled. Upon my visit this summer,I observed closely the activity in the office. I observed Dr. Jacoby taking every opportunity to visit with patients. Upon my visit, after the initial greeting, I remarked, " When I called I was told that you had cut back hours due to health reasons. I am concerned about you." Professional as he was, he responded in a manner that I knew was grave. I responded that I understood. We visited for a long time. He recounted tales of his youth and his dad. We discussed his dad, brothers, his youth, and life. I knew at the time , he was going to die. And he knew that I knew. We visited for about thirty minutes with him recalling his life. Ultimately, he said to me, "I have really enjoyed this. And I'll see you next year." We both knew that would never happen. I drove home with tears. Dr. Jacoby was a man of expertise. I trusted him completely.

I was very sad to learn of Dr. Jacoby's passing. I paused to remember how I first met him so many years ago.
I met Doc back when I was a kid going to his office in Avon. Then later on when I was 18 I met up with his son Mike Jacoby and a few of his character friends - Gil Perez and Clint "Bubba" McDermott on the golf course. We were all pretty good friends and I got to know the Jacoby family a little better. I remember skiing with Doc and his family at Okemo one year. What great memories. I never did hold it against him that he was a Syracuse fan.
From what it looks like Doc will be missed by many. He touched so many people both on a professional and a personnel level. No matter which level everybody always seemed to get the same big happy smile and positive personality when you walked into his office or met him on the street.
My thoughts and prayers are with everybody in the Jacoby family.

Our deepest sympathies to the Jacoby family. I have been a patient of Dr. Jacoby since 1981 and have seen him regularly for the most part every six months since then. During that time I've grown up, gotten married and had three children- feels like he was there in a way for all of it as I always had an appointment on the schedule and could count on great care, advice, friendly chat, solving the bull pen problems of the New York Yankees and a joke or two! I considered him a friend even though we only saw each other every few months or so.
I was ablsolutely shocked to hear of his passing. My wife had taken our son in for a check up on Friday, which was scheduled months in advance, when she called me. I had seen him only a few weeks earlier and he was his usual self. He once mentioned that he was a bit tired and had a couple of 'health things' going on and as I reflect back, it seemed that he took great care to make sure his patients wouldn't worry about him.
To say he will be missed doesn't seem to express the loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Family and Friends of Dr. Jacoby;
Although we did not know Larry as long or as well as most of you, we were thank-ful for the time we did spend together.
We originally met "Larry" on a professional basis but thereafter we usually ran into him at Murasaki where we enjoyed the selection of Sushi and the conversation that followed. We looked forward to those Thursday nights with Larry and Jane and the sincere dialogue that ensued. Dear Jacoby Family,
I have been a patient of Dr. Jacoby for almost the entire time that he practiced medicine in Avon, CT. When I was in my mid-twenties, he was the first Dermatologist who was able to correct my skin condition during my very first visit to his office. My last appointment with him was October 15, 2007 as I had regular 6 month checkups with him to keep skin cancer in check. He never mentioned being ill and always had a joke that would always make me laugh. Dr. Jacoby and I also had many John Lennon conversations as we were both fans of John.
My wife Leigh was also a patient. We referred many of our friends and family members to Dr. Jacoby and they all loved him.
I will miss Dr. Jacoby, my Doctor and my friend.

When I read the paper today, I was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Jacoby. I did not know that he was ill. Dr. Jacoby was my dermatologist, and he also saw my son Eric several times. He helped me through many skin problems, and he was extremely personable. I was impressed with the way he explained everything he was going to do at each visit. He also would see me on the spur of the moment several times when I went into the office. He was an exceptional doctor, which is why it was so difficult to get an appointment with him. Everyone loved him. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to everyone in the Jacoby family and to tell you all that I loved your husband (and dad). He was not only a doctor to me, but a wonderful friend. I hope that by knowing how much he was loved, plus your great memories of him, you will all be able to get through this difficult time.
