Lawrence Lange Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2007.
Lawrence R. Lange, Our brother, Larry, returned to be with the Lord on 7/15/07. Larry was a kind and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who came to know of his good humor, grace, and care for others. Larry is survived by his wife, Judianne of Scottsdale, and two children, Ashley of Aberdeen, Scotland and Jeffery of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by his mother Lorraine and sister Michele Lange of Fremont, CA, and father Jacque Lange of Seattle, WA. Services will be at St Patrick Catholic Community in Scottsdale, AZ. Prayer vigil at 7PM Friday followed on Saturday at 10AM with a Celebration of Life and Mass. Interment will be at the family's convenience in New Martinsville, WV. Born in Chicago, IL, he was active in high school basketball and wrestling. College found him in Cal State Hayward and UCLA where he earned a Bachelors and post bachelors Certificate in Orthotics Prosthetics. In his life work in prosthetics and orthotics he found unique pleasure in seeing his patients walk out of his office, who were unable to walk in. His calm, kind listening and gentle manner with his patients endeared him to those in need of his skills and to those who had the pleasure of sharing a glass of wine with him. Larry understood the responsibility that came with his title, a responsibility to his patients as well as his profession. He gave richly of his talents to both. Larry not only loved the profession but he loved the people associated with it. His depth of knowledge in the O&P field and his listening and communication skills made him the proto type examiner. He went beyond basic administration as he was ever vigilant in addressing the changes in patient care protocols; making sure his fellow practioners were as current with clinically accepted trends as he could. Larry's leading edge work earned him the right to name practices, such as the "Lange Boot", and had most recently been the author for a portion of the text books used to train new practioners. Larry's knowledge, teaching, clinical and technical skill and his friendship will be missed and very hard to replace.
He was a fellow of the American Assoc. of Orthotics and Prosthetics and a member National Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics. He was guest lecturer in his field and was most recently practicing with McCleve Orthotics and Prosthetics of Mesa, AZ. Larry was tenor in the choir of St Patrick in which he sang along with Judianne. He had a deep love of history and great respect for the character of the leaders of their day. As a Civil War Re-enactor, he was a Medical Officer with the 15th Ohio Volunteers Regiment. Memorial contributions can be made to the St Patrick Music Ministry 10815 North 84th St. Scottsdale AZ 85260. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Messinger Indian School Mortuary of Scottsdale.

Judianna,

I was just informed today of this most sad news of your loss and I am deeply sorry; my heart goes out to you. Please know Larry has been on my heart for some time now, even before the loss of my Erin earlier this year. I know what you are going through unfortunately as well. We spoke on the phone a few months back after a meeting. I want you to know I truely care; then, now and always. May you find comfort in our loving Lord who understands and may you also find comfort in knowing with blessed assurance Larry is with Him now! I look forward to seeing you again soon.

So shocked and saddened to learn that Larry has passed away. Our choir group has lost two outstanding men in less than a month. Larry was a man of so many talents which he used to improve the lives of those around him. He will be greatly missed.
