Lawrence (Larry) Evans Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence (Larry) Evans on August 3, 2025 at 74 years old.

Larry was born on October 16, 1950 in Portland, Oregon. He grew up in Southwest Portland and was a proud graduate of Wilson High School and the University of Oregon. Larry went on to earn his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School. He built a respected career as a business attorney, known for his strong advocacy and deep commitment to his clients, many of whom became close friends. Larry was planning to retire this fall after receiving his 50-year pin from the Oregon State Bar, commemorating 50 years as an Oregon attorney. Larry spent much of his career at the firm he co-founded, Grenley, Rotenberg, Evans, Bragg & Bodie, P.C., and the last decade of his career practicing with his daughter, Krista, at Evans + Evans Law. Larry was a man of integrity and deep and abiding faith. Throughout his career, he formed and supported many Christian ministry organizations. Larry's Jewish heritage was very important to him, and he was an ardent supporter of the State of Israel.

Larry's pride and joy was his family and friends, including his children, Justin and Krista, and his wife of 46 years and high school sweetheart, Carrie (Signer) Evans. Outside the office, Larry enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing, playing poker, and loyally cheering on the Oregon Ducks and the New York Yankees. Larry fought fiercely for the people he loved and was always ready with a joke, a story, or advice whether you asked for it or not. Larry made many great memories with his loved ones in Black Butte, Sunriver, Lincoln City, and Lake Tahoe. Whether he was grilling burgers for twenty of his closest friends, clients, and family at Autzen Stadium or hosting a number of Justin and Krista's friends at holiday gatherings, Larry and Carrie's home (and Duck tailgate) was open to all. Larry wore his heart on his sleeve, and not a day went by that he didn't tell his family how much he loved them. He was affectionately known by his close friends as Bear, a nickname dating back to the freshman dorms at University of Oregon.

Larry is survived by his two children, Justin and Krista; his siblings Roberta, Mark, Steve, and Mike; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a number of close friends. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carrie, and his parents, Hyman and Lilly.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
