Lawrence Ross Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 6, 2025.
Lawrence Edward Allen Ross (Larry), age 74, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. Born on November 3, 1950, in Lexington, Kentucky, Larry lived a vibrant life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Brittany Ross (Jason Johnson) and Angela Ross (Mike Sams), his adoring wife, Dixie Vasquez, and her children, Alvin, Ricky, and Danny.

Other surviving friends and family include his lifelong best friend, Danny Hatton (Beckie); nieces Jennifer Heckendorn (Phillip); nephew Christopher Roberts (Kimberly); and cousins Michelle Primm (Dan), Bentley, Mason (Tannis), and Thomas Ross (Jan).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Caroline and Dillard Edward Ross; his brothers, Daniel Vincent and Michael David; and his cousin, Maffett Primm.

Larry was a man of many passions. He found joy in bass fishing, golfing, cooking, and entertaining. A lifelong car enthusiast, he loved everything from drag racing and NASCAR, to restoring classic cars. He was a talented singer in a local band in his younger years, and he enjoyed live music and dancing throughout his life.

As his daughters were growing up, Larry made sure they were always by his side - whether it was a Sunday drive through the countryside, a putt putt date, spontaneous sushi night, or dancing while standing on top of his shoes, he made everything memorable. Many summers were spent making memories at the lake or trips to Florida.

Larry shared a lasting friendship with his late wife, Carolyn Ross, while they lovingly raised their daughters. Their connection lasted until her passing in 2013.

He later built a beautiful life with his wife Dixie in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where they made countless joyful memories. Together, they enjoyed hosting family and friends, traveling (especially to Las Vegas), and sharing their love for casinos, fine dining, and shopping. When they travelled to Kentucky, they never missed catching up with their dear friends Dwayne & Linda.

A hardworking entrepreneur, Larry owned businesses through his life in both Kentucky and Puerto Rico. He never officially retired - believing in working hard, playing hard, and living life to the fullest. He treasured connection, never missing a daily FaceTime with his daughters, and his favorite furry grand-dog, Ruger - as he lovingly referred to as "his boy".

His bond with his son-in-law Jason was so special to him, and he loved guiding him on home projects, like a huge farmhouse table and deck. His favorite part may have been asking if it was finished every single day...

With his quick wit, big heart, and captivating stories, he was truly the life of the party. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.

Celebrations of life will be held in Puerto Rico and Kentucky, once he makes his journey home. Details to be announced at a later date.

Rest in peace Uncle Larry. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. You were such a fun uncle and always loved making us laugh with your funny voices and magic prank tricks (we always fell for it). Always the life of the party making sure everyone was having fun. Your heart was full of compassion and helping others. Your positive outlook was contagious and your smile and fun ideas always motivated us. And even though the beach wasn´t your favorite place, you would still join us in Sanibel making sure those fun sisters were happy and the kids too. Your dedication as a father was full of love and commitment raising 2 beautiful daughters who I adore. We will miss you and your smile so very much. Until we meet again.....
