The EGL / SCG family morns the lose of one the founding members. I think of him each Friday, when I but my tennis shoes on to go to work. Great Man, Boss, and Mentor, I want to be like Larry when I grow up. Although I never met Larry, I was proud to be a Howland Tiger and like many others admire Larry's skills and abilities to be a great fighter on the field. I was hoping someday to meet Larry thru family in Columbus.

Dear Savage family—
I was sorry to read this obituary.I only knew Larry as a high school classmate. But I wanted you to know—especially Larry's children—that I remember your father, husband, and son as a kind, considerate and humble classmate. Even in high school, when I know he was being recruited by all kinds of schools and hearing all kinds of accolades, Larry was unfailingly friendly and decent to all. I am sure he maintained those same qualities throughout his life, and I know you will miss him terribly. We in the Howland High School Class of 1975 are saddened by his passing—and are glad to have known him.

I heard this today from my friend Michael Dunsmore. I am sorry to hear this about Larry. I played fullback for Iowa and had to try to dodge Larry on the MSU Defense. He was all over the place.. great instincts and a hard nosed hitter. I know that he has told you stories about his days at MSU, but what he said was true.. he was better than he told you.
