Larry, this comes as a shock to me...I have such fond memories of our 'younger' days. Fishing/camping, jamming with your brothers, and other adventures you took me on.
·I am saddened, and will truly miss you...

Larry may you rest in peace. To his Ohana so sorry that we did not attended his funeral, Paulo and I didn't know he had passed. We were so fortunate that he was our Best Man for our Wedding 11/1975... He was a good friend to us and since we relocated to Maui we lost touch. God bless.. Aloha pumehana... Larry, A great high school friend, I remember all the good times we had, from picking mango and eating it in class, fishing where we should'nt have been, just running around and having fun. We got are drivers license together at the Kailua Police Station. Pals forever, Ray Lee

Larry, I was saddened to hear that you left, even after 50+ years. Yes, I also remember, as another Manoa neighbor has reminisced, fond memories of fun times on Loulu Street -- those were carefree and innocence days. I still remember when you got ahold of my baby picture with the beanie hat and showed it to everybody at Roosevelt High School. I was so embarrassed. I think my brother, Brian, may have had a part in this ruse. Right now, I know you are reuniting with Brian, reliving the fun times, and still joking around. Yes, he passed away in D.C. on September, 2009. I had 18 precious months with him before he passed.
Strange as it seems, I will miss you even after not seeing you for over 50 years. But you and your family must know that:
“ Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon . . .”

His extensive knowledge of Hawaiiana and his terrific memory never made him an arrogant man. Instead, he was humble, friendly and modest-always sharing his knowledge of Hawaiian history and his love of its people and land, treating guests as if they were part of his family and being ever resourceful in the way he lived.
We will always treasure and appreciate Larry's legacy and thank his wife, Julie, for her patience and strength (both physical and emotional) in caring for such a wonderful man who will forever remain in our hearts.

Hawaii just lost it's greatest ambassador, Larry loved Hawaii, and Hawaii loved Larry. Our family has great comfort and consolation in the legacy of love that you left us, we can look back at your life with pride and admiration. What a generous, neat, compassionate, loving and talented man you were. Being around you, made the world a better place. I love you brother, and losing you, leaves a hole in our hearts, that only fond memories of you can fill. Larry, your best asset was your heart, it was always in the right place. Mahalo
