Leamon Douglas Ainsley, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away suddenly August 24, 2007 in WakeMed Raleigh Campus. Born in Norfolk County, VA, April 24, 1940, Doug graduated from Oscar Smith High School, attended Old Dominion University and owned several businesses in VA and NC. He was currently manager of Extra Attic Self-Storage in Wake Forest. Doug's spiritual life was with The Triangle Congregation for Humanistic Judaism. He was predeceased by his parents, Leamon Leafate and Stella Irene Johnson Ainsley.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Theresa Anne McGallicher and husband Jeffrey Alan of Niamey, Niger, and Dona Michelle Ainsley and husband John McCullers of Ft. Myers FL. He is also survived by his much loved only sister Mary Sue Disharoon, brother- in-law Gary; niece Carie Carley of Chesapeake VA; and nephew, Mark Disharoon of Moyock NC. His beloved grandchildren include Ainsley Chapin and John Paul McCullers of Ft. Myers FL, Jacob Radford, Charlotte Ainsley, and Bridgette Shearer McGallicher of Niger, Sophie Leigh and Samuel Philip Wilcox and Sarah Kate Anders of Durham, North Carolina.
In addition to his immediate family Doug remains in the heart of his closest companion and dearest friend of thirty years, Lois Alpern and her daughters Julie Anders, Marlo Wilcox and husband Dirk Wilcox, and Stacy Sutton and husband James Sutton.
A celebration of life and commitment to the waters Doug loved will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are in the hands of Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home, Durham NC.
Donations of memory may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
