STRATHAM - Leanne K. Donovan, 48, of Stratham, New Hampshire passed away on Wednesday, November 20 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Leanne waged a courageous 4 year battle with Breast Cancer, a battle waged with extreme strength and dignity.

She was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on March 28, 1965, and was the daughter of Donald Donovan and Toni (Sarbanis) Donovan of Atkinson, New Hampshire.

Leanne is also survived by her two adored brothers, Shawn C. Donovan and his wife Karen, Nottingham, New Hampshire and Scott C. Donovan and his wife Amy, Dover, New Hampshire. She also leaves her cherished niece and nephews, Maggie Donovan, Noah Donovan and Aidan Donovan; also, her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Sarbanis, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Leanne was a 1983 graduate of Timberlane Regional High School, earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire and her Doctorate from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She was a talented and compassionate Veterinarian who loved caring for animals from childhood. She most recently worked at Dover Veterinary Hospital, Dover, New Hampshire, Stratham - Newfields Animal Hospital, Newfields, New Hampshire and Gray-New Gloucester Animal Hospital, Gray, Maine.

Leanne loved reading, gardening and needlepoint, and was an accomplished cook. She also loved traveling and had traveled to most states in the United States. She was an avid Red Sox fan, loved hiking and most of all, spending vacations with her family in Acadia National Park. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff members at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Rockingham VNA and Merrimack Valley Hospice House for all their care and concern.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Monday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Parish, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, New Hampshire. Calling hours will be on Sunday, November 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer Street, Haverhill, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Leanne was a sweet, kind, intelligent person. We grew up together, attending elementary, middle school and high school, as well as college together at UNH. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Rest in peace, Leanne.

Dr. Donovan was our vet for the past 4 years. I can't say enough about her. She truly had a gift. Our dog, Gus, actually liked going to the vet! She was just a wonderful person and will truly be missed. My condolences to her family.

The state of New Hampshire has lost a well respected member of the veterinary community and we were all terribly saddened to hear the news . Leanne was a great asset to the profession and to her clients and she will be dearly missed.
