Lee Abbott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2024.
Dr. Lee Jeffry Abbott, age 76, passed away on October 1, 2024, in West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Hartford, CT, on November 6, 1947, Lee led a life marked by his sharp intellect, quick wit, and a deep sensitivity that touched all who knew him.

Lee proudly served in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his dedication and discipline, qualities that he carried into his professional life. After his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University. Lee's career was distinguished by his role as a Physician's Assistant at the University of Maryland Medical School and the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's office. He later went on to graduate with high honors from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, GA. He became the founder of Abbott Chiropractic in Wellington, FL where he combined his medical expertise with his entrepreneurial spirit.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Lee was a passionate wildlife photographer and an enthusiastic Florida State University college football fan, interests that showcased his love for nature and sports.

Lee is survived by his children, Aaron Abbott and Sarah Abbott; daughter in law, Liuba Abbott; grandchildren, Victoria and Alyssa; and siblings, Sheryl Smith, Beverly Buss, and Roger Abbott. He is also survived by former wife and life long friend, Nancy Abbott. Lee felt blessed to have many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Greta Whitehurst; fathers, Arthur Abrams and Gerald Abbott; stepfather, Winfield Whitehurst; and siblings, Alan, Keith, and Mitchell Abbott, and Marsha Leonard.

In recent years, Lee had the great pleasure to be united with the family of his predeceased biological father, Germain Barre. He came to know several of his siblings which include; Charles Barre, Janet Haynes, and Denise Poor as well as his niece, Danielle Harris. This was a very joyous time for him and his family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dr. Abbott may be made to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, Florida, a place where he frequented for his photography, and it was close to his heart and reflective of his love for wildlife. Lee's legacy will live on through his family, his contributions to medicine, and his impact on the community.
