Lee Crispe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Lee Anne Crispe, 73 of Midland Texas, passed away on August 25th surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Boulder Colorado on June 10th, 1952 to Jean and Ken Waneka. Growing up in Longmont Colorado, she was very active in band and 4H, gaining many achievements in cooking, sewing, knitting and dog training. Lee graduated from Longmont High School in 1970. She was one of few women to attend the Colorado University of Boulder's Architecture program, where she had acquired a full scholarship.

A year later, Lee married John Achziger of Weld County. They had two children and divorced in 1979. In March of 1982, Lee remarried Jay Crispe also of Weld County, and had two more children. Then later divorced in 2019. She moved to Midland TX in September of 2022, to be closer to her two youngest, and all of her 5 (now 6) grandkids.

Lee enjoyed living a rural life, mostly west of Longmont near Hygiene. She enjoyed working with and caring for horses and dogs. She spent a lot of time gardening vegetables and flowers. Her passion for sewing and knitting carried with her throughout the years. She enjoyed also being involved with her own children's 4H projects, rodeos, and sporting events.

Lee retired from Perry, Roane and Henley October of 2021, after working 38 years as a tax accountant for her friend Don Perry.

Lee had the kindest of hearts, and lived her life full of grace. A quality she acquired from her own Mother. Even when faced with adversity, she stayed her sweet self. Her children will miss what a great listener she was, talking for hours without judgement, or unsolicited advice. Her smile warmed the hearts of all that were fortunate enough to know her. In more recent years she enjoyed exploring in the mountains of Colorado with a very supportive man, Scott Demeree. Lee was a huge part of her grandkids lives, constantly attending their practices, games and rodeo events. Her family is her legacy.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents Harriet "Jean" Fiolkoski Waneka and Kenneth Wayne Waneka.

Lee is survived by four children, a son Aaron Achziger (Joleene) of Olathe, CO a daughter Rachel Achziger of San Diego, CA a son Travis Crispe (Kyla) of Weatherford, TX a daughter Amanda Norman (Joshua) of Midland, TX and six grandchildren, Blakely, Maely, Trevor and Linley Crispe of Weatherford,TX and Tripp and Stetson Norman of MIdland, TX and her five siblings Lynn Rysdahl (Wayne) Lori Hight (Brent) Jerry Waneka (Cheri) Jeff Waneka (Regina) and Joel Waneka (Jeanne) all of Colorado

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on September 27th,2025 from 11-2pm at the D-Barn Reception Hall at 136 S Main St, Longmont, CO 80501.
