Obituary

Lee J. Laxdal, age 68, of Edin-burg, ND passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at his home in Mountain. Lee J. Laxdal was born October 26, 1936 in National City, California, the son of the late Leo and Sophie Laxdal. The family moved to Gardar in 1943 and he graduated from Gardar High School in 1953. He attended UND for a short time. Following his education he started farming with his father near Gardar. He married Dianne Hallgrimson on November 18, 1957 in Bemidji, MN. The couple made their home in Gardar where he farmed until retiring in 1987. Dianne Laxdal passed away on June 15, 2001. In the fall of 2001 he moved to the Mountain Housing Apartments in Mountain, ND. He was a member of the Pembina Hills Lutheran Church - Gardar District. He served on the Edinburg School Board for several years and served as president of the board for a time. He served on the Pembina County Water Board. Lee was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting whitetail deer around the Gardar area as well as taking several hunting & fishing trips into Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at their sporting events and birthday parties. He is survived by his children: Kent (Mary) Laxdal of Edinburg, ND; Sandy (Diana) Laxdal of Cando, ND; Cory (Sheila) Laxdal of Edinburg, ND; daughter-in-law Sharon Laxdal of Edinburg, ND; fourteen grandchildren and sisters: Norma (Laurine) Thompson of Onamia, MN; and Laurel (Jack) Bowles of Milton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Todd. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gardar Pioneer Lutheran Church of Gardar, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the services in the Church. Interment will be at the Gardar Cemetery.
