Leeann Patterson
Nov. 8, 1942-Dec. 21, 2020
Resident of San Jose
Leeann Patterson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; was born in Portland, Oregon on November 8, 1942 to parents Leon Curtis and Marianne Lee and her 7 siblings. She grew up in Gilchrist and attended university at Linfield College in McMinnville, where she met her husband of 57 years, John Edgar Patterson. Leeann and John moved to Beaverton OR, Simi Valley CA, and Tempe AZ, as they took teaching jobs and completed their Master's Degrees; eventually settling in San Jose, CA where they lived for 41 years. During her life, she worked as a teacher, marketing communications specialist, and administrator for her husband's counseling practice. She was a founder and nurturer of the Christian Counseling Center in San Jose. She and John touched many people through their work at the church; which involved teaching engaged couples seminars, marriage enrichment classes, and serving on the prayer team. She also knew how to balance hard work with play, adventure, and time with family. Leeann and John loved to travel, and over the years traveled to every continent except Antarctica. She especially loved discovering the birds and wildlife of each locale she visited, and her favorite trips were safaris.
Leeann carried herself with an uncommon graciousness, elegance, humility, discretion, and radiance. She had the ability to make everybody feel special and welcome. She dedicated her life to service to others; and embraced everybody she met with light, love, care, nurturing, and her melodious welcoming voice. Her friends and family describe her as a beacon of light and a safe harbor.
Leeann passed away on December 21, 2020 at 12:08am at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband John Edgar Patterson, children Lane Gordon Patterson and Jillaine K. Danis; and five grandchildren Amy, Ryan, Liam, Sophia, and Ruth.
Leeann's life will be celebrated on January 2, 2020 at 11:00 am at Venture Christian Church.

I would like to offer my belated condolences to the family of Leeann Patterson on the occasion of her departing this world. Her husband John was a classmate of mine at then Linfield College and graduated with me in 1961. John and I were both history majors. Regrettably, I never knew him or Leeann very well, but looking them up in my Linfield Oak Leaves 1961 yearbook, I recognized their faces.
Thank you.
