Mr. LeGrand "Roc" Cabbagestalk was born September 20, 1941 in Hartsville, South Carolina, a son of the late LeGrand and Anna Graham Cabbagestalk. He departed this life on Friday, March 2, 2012. "Roc," as he was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Darlington County, South Carolina. His first marriage was to the former Sarah O'Neal and this union was blessed with six children. He later married Nancy Hammond and this union was blessed with one child and three step children. "Roc" was a hard-working man. He worked at the Fertilizer Mill for many years. He also worked at Bo Smith Furniture Company of Hartsville, South Carolina. After a while, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he began working for the City of Charlotte and Discovery Place. He worked for the City until his retirement. "Roc" enjoyed doing yard work, helping others, and fishing. Those who knew and loved him will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marie Williams, and two brothers, Robert Cabbagestalk and Leo Bishop. Surviving to cherish the memory and maintain the legacy of Mr. LeGrand "Roc" Cabbagestalk is his children, Sara Thomas of Columbia, SC, Anthony Cabbagestalk of Charlotte, NC, LeGrand (Christy) Cabbagestalk of San Diego, CA, Theresa (Lucius) James of Columbia, SC, Melissa (Thomas) Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Wanda Huggins of Hartsville, SC, Sophia Streater of Hartsville, SC, and Rico Torrez Cabbagestalk of Alexandria, VA; two step daughters, Tanya Hammond of Charlotte, NC and Tina Hammond of Baltimore, MD; a step son, Melvin Hammond of VA; a sister, Anna Thomas of CA; a brother, James Cabbagestalk of Charlotte, NC; four sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Bishop, Erica Cabbagestalk, Jewel Cabbagestalk, and Dottie Canty; 27 grandchildren, 9 great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
