Nolan Lewis "Bud" Dudley Jr.

Nolan Lewis Dudley Jr. January 12, 1924 - June 23, 2004 SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Nolan Lewis "Bud" Dudley Jr., 80, of Waskom, Texas, died at the Shreveport VA Medical Center on June 23, 2004 of Malignant Melanoma. Funeral services were held June 26 at Bethany Baptist Church in Bethany, La., the Rev. Gary E. Palmer officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery in Panola, Texas. Mr. Dudley was born Jan. 12, 1924 in Columbus, Ga., to the late Clara Elizabeth Neill Dudley and Nolan Lewis Dudley Sr. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise D. Byrd of Columbus, and a son-in-law, Joseph Gagliardi of Bedford, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth K. Dudley of Waskom, Texas; a son, Nolan L. Dudley III and wife Lisa of Shreveport, La.; a step son, David Cain and wife Flo of Shreveport\; daughters, Margaret Lee Gagliardi of Bedford, Texas and Patricia Ann Dudley of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Clara D. Blackmon of Camden, Ala.; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Dudley graduated from Columbus High School and Georgia Tech, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for various southeastern engineering firms especially in Louisiana and in Africa. From 1943-1946, he served in the U.S. Navy and took part in amphibious operations at Palu and Okinawa.
