KEWANEE - Leland Leroy McLennan, 83, of Kennesaw, Ga., formerly of Kewanee, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Serenity Manor, Metropolitan Hospice in Marietta, Ga.
He was the former president and general manager of Carters Furniture stores located throughout central Illinois.
He was born on April 19, 1925, in Kewanee, Ill., to Thomas and Lulu McLennan. He married Ruth Cheek of Peoria, Ill., on March 21, 1946.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
He was a Navy and World War II veteran.
Surviving him are his wife, Ruth, of Kennesaw, Ga.; daughters, Ronda Morgan and Terry Strasburg, both of Woodstock, Ga.; one son, Michael McLennan of Longwood, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is being planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Metropolitan Hospice C/O Serenity Manor, 200 Village Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067.
Cremation Society of the South in Marietta is in charge of the arrangements.

Lee and Ruth were good friends and neighbors during our early years together in Pinetree Subdivision in Seymour. Our prayers go out to Ruth, Ronda, Terry and Mike during these difficult times. We have a lot of good memories of our times together with all of you!
