Lena Seniuk Obituary
Lena was a former teacher and principal with the District School Board of Niagara, and co-founder of the Ms. Math program. Lena served as the president of the Laurier Liberal Ladies for two terms, volunteered with Out of the Cold, and was an active member of the Ukrainian community, having served 7 years as parish president of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George in St. Catharines.
The family will receive friends at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, (75 Church Street, St. Catharines, 905-684-6346) on Tuesday, May 1 from 2:00-4:00pm. A Panachyda will be held at 7:00pm followed by visitation until 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George (65 Facer Street in St. Catharines) on Wednesday, May 2 at 10:00am followed by interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George would be appreciated by the family. On-line tributes may be made at www.hulseandenglish.com.

Dear Russell and children, Pani Awramenko, Walter, Nadia and Andy and children, Mary and family; although I rarely saw Lena after moving away from St. Catharines so many years ago, my memories of her as we were growing up in the church and all of the related activities, including being the best maid of honor, are all very precious to me and will never be forgotten.
My sincerest and deeply heartfelt condolences to you for the far too early loss of Lena.

I grew up on White Street in St. Catharines, and Mrs. Seniuk taught me how to decorate Ukrainian Easter Eggs when I was in grade school. I spent many, many hours at her house learning this ancient craft, and I have passed it along it along to my son, thanks to the patience and kindness that Mrs. Seniuk imparted to me. It is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of such an accomplished and incredible lady in our Ukrainian Canadian community. I met Lena over the years in St Catharines, Toronto and our national church meetings in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. She was beautiful inside and out.
