Alto -- Funeral service for Leo A. Hicks, 75, of Alto will be Sunday, April 18th at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alto with Rev. Gary Pridmore officiating. Burial will be held in the Lynches Chapel Cemetery near Alto. Mr. Hicks died Thursday, April 15th in Alto. He was born November 7, 1934 in Rusk, Texas to Archie and Ora Reece Hicks. He lived most of his life in Alto and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of Alto Terrell Lodge No. 83, a former Deacon of First Baptist and former member of the T.D.A. Board of Directors. Mr. Hicks worked for the Rusk State Hospital for 12 years. He and his brother Alton Hicks started the Hicks Post Plant in 1967 and in 1980 he started the Leo Hicks Creosoting Company on his own. In 1994 his passions for whitetail deer lead him to open the Hicks Whitetail Ranch. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors Include his wife, Frances Hicks of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Steve McClendon, Tasha and Keith Jackson, Kim and Kyle Hopper and Robin Hicks, all of Alto; nephew, Frankie Bradford of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Nell Hicks, Alton Hicks and Roy and Pauline Hicks, all of Alto; sister, Gladys Jones of Kansas; grandchildren, John Leo McClendon and wife Cassidy, Jeremy Jackson and wife Holly, Jaleea Hudnell and husband Duston, Jessica Hopper, Justin Hopper, Jerrica Bradford, Jade Bradford and Jocelyn Bradford; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are John McClendon, Jeremy Jackson, Justin Hopper, Duston Hudnall, Brian Hicks and Adam Hicks. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Powell, Gene Lowry and Marion Lindsey. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto.
