Leon and I were ATF Special Agents in Georgia back in the day. In fact, i walked every inch of that Gumlog Section of Franklin County where he settled for retirement. Sympathy, condolences and prayers for his family and many friends.

I too knew Leon from the moonshine days, and I met him during the mid-1960s. After retirement, I always looked forward to seeing him at the ATF retirees get together to renew old friendships and stories of days gone by. Leon never lost his integrity. He will be missed by all that knew him.

I had the pleasure of working with Leon in Georgia back during the moonshine years. I was stationed in North Georgia with ATF. Leon was always a true professional and a perfect gentleman. His work ethic was second to no one. Helen my sincere condolences are with you and your family. Leon will be missed by all but he is now part of our future. We will see him again. I was only with Helen and Leon during the time they attended our Cornelia Methodist Church, but loved them dearly. They are both (and he still IS where he is now) such beautiful people. A Spirit of love, Gods love, just emanated from them both continuously. And Im so happy for Leon being with the Lord and send my love to Helen and all the family, trusting Gods love, Grace , His Peace and Comfort to surround them and we look forward to his return to us soon along with Quinten and all our loved ones with the Return of our Lord Jesus as He comes on the Clouds.... My parents - Joan and Dan Rennaker have been friends with Leon and Helen for many years. Every summer my daughters Isabella and Sophia would visit their grandparents and visit Leon and Helen. I have many pier photos with my daughters, Leon, a fish, and big smiles on my children's faces. I want to say thank you for the hospitality and kindness Leon showed them. Those moments are very much part of their happy childhood memories.

Although we met through mutual friends, annual gatherings provided us the opportunity to get to know Leon & Helen and we became good friends. Leon kept us riveted with his many stories of life with bootleggers. He had a marvelous sense of humor. We enjoyed playing cards with him too. Such a polite, thoughtful gentleman. We will miss him.
