Leona Deanne (Harrell) King, 85 of Wichita, KS., passed away on June 20, 2025 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.

She was born July 30, 1939 in Hortense, Georgia, the daughter of James Owen and Margaret (Lanier) Harrell.

Leona moved to Wichita after marrying Duane McDonald.

She was with her life partner, King Morales, for over 30 years who preceded her in death on January 14, 2021.

She was a homemaker, worked at Wescon Plastics, temporarily retiring and then went on to work as a door greeter at Walmart at Pawnee and Broadway for over 15 years. She was sometimes called mom by her fellow workers. She adored her fellow workers and thought of them as family

Survivors include 2 sons, Michael L. McDonald and Craig A. McDonald, both of Wichita; a brother Zade Harrell of Hortense, GA;; a grandchild Krtistian Tanner; cousins Charles Harrell of Hortense, GA and Carolyn Strickland also of Hortense, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; life partner King Morales; and 2 brothers James T. and Olie V. Harrell.; 3 sisters Imogene Mills of Pittsburg, KS , Margaret Oldham of Wichita, KS, and Olie V. Harrell.; 3 sisters Imogene Mills of Pittsburg, KS , Margaret Oldham of Wichita, KS, and

Rhea Tanner of San Diego, CA.

Memorial Remembrance service will be held at Parkview Baptist Church at 3430 S Meridian Ave, Wichita, KS on July 26, 2025 at 1:00 pm where food, drink and cake will be provided along with memorial jewelry for those who desire it.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkview Baptist Church of Wichita, KS and the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Via Christi St. Francis, 8th Floor NW C Elevator, 929 N. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67214.
