Leona Wuanita McDaniel

L. Waunita McDaniel L. Waunita McDaniel age 92, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at her home. L. Waunita McDaniel was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma in 1919. She and her husband Joseph Kennedy raised three daughters in Carmi, IL. She later moved to Champaign, IL where she managed a dress shop. In 1962, she began a new phase of life when she married Carl McDaniel and moved back to the Carmi area. They resided in their lake home at Sandy Run Lake and wintered at their condominium in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with her many friends and family. Waunita was a very active member of the Immanuel Baptist Temple and the fellowship she enjoyed with her singles class was very important to her. Waunita was a past member of Business and Professional Women's Association, and a Kentucky Colonel. She made many trips to Anchorage, AK to spend time with her niece, Janet Daley and family. For the last ten years, she enjoyed vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where she made friends from all over the world. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl McDaniel, three daughters Barbara Jo Storey of Henderson, KY, Lanora Lawson of Henderson, KY and Pat Kennedy of Evansville, IN and by two grandchildren, Joni Storey and Patrick Lawson. Survivors include: 1 Brother: Ken Jones Anchorage, Alaska 6 Grandchildren: Kathi Jo (Terry) Briscoe New Burgh, In Kirk (Tammy) Storey Henderson, Ky Shane Conner Chicago, Il Rod (Karen) Conner Benton, Il Trina (Brian) Heap Lacombe, La Cindy (Kerry) Howton Carbondale, Il 13 Great Grandchildren 3 Great Great Grandchildren Numerous Nieces and Nephews Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Dr. Bill Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Carmi, IL. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday and from 11:00-1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY.
