Leona L. Moffett, 79, of Bedford, died on October 31, 2013. Mrs. Moffett was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 3, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Porter and Ora Lemmons. Raised in Texas and New Mexico, she met Milton Moffett who was stationed with the Army Air Corps in 1947. They were married on June 24, 1949, in Texas. After their marriage, military assignments took them to Germany, Tokyo and Virginia before making Bedford their home in 1962. Leona was a volunteer with the local Red Cross and was a Past President of the NCO Women's Club at Hanscom AFB. In later years, she assisted Milton in the operation of his business, Bedford Optical Company established in 1969. Leona is survived by her husband, Milton R. Moffett, four children, James R. Moffett and his wife Kathy of Tallahassee, FL, Jacqueline L. Moffett of Dover Foxcroft, ME, Carol Hood and her husband Ed of Moultre, GA and Milton Moffett and his wife Connie of Matthews, NC, her sister of Alice Morey of Canton, OH, 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 100 Pine Hill Rd., Bedford, on Fri., Nov. 8, at 10 A.M. Visitation will be at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Thurs., Nov. 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309
