Leonard Chartier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2024.
Leonard Howard Chartier, aged 86, passed away on January 13, 2024, in Casa Grande, Arizona. Born on June 6, 1937, in Limon, Colorado, Leonard proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1958, earning the distinguished title of Horned Shellback for his time at sea. His post-military career was marked by three decades of dedicated service with Ford Motor Company as a transportation agent, a role in which he took great pride.

Leonard was a voracious reader with a particular interest in the Civil War and World War II. His love for motorcycles continued throughout his life, evident in his spirited rides and the joyous recounting of his cross-country adventures. He was also known for his love of country music and his remarkable talent on the dance floor, a pastime through which he met his beloved second wife, Angela.

In addition to his wife, Angela Chartier, Leonard's memory will be cherished by his son Jeffery Chartier, daughter-in-law Valerie, grandchildren Erin and Evan Chartier, great-grandson Brayden Berg, and his extended family of step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Henry Chartier, his parents, Oda and Vernie Chartier, his half-brother John, and his siblings.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Leonard's honor at Family in Christ Church, Westminster, Colorado, on May 25, 2024. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Compassus Hospice in Casa Grande, Arizona, or to the American Heart Association.

The caring staff at Angels in Waiting, Casa Grande, Arizona, were responsible for the arrangements leading to Leonard's peaceful passing. Remembered as a man who embodied vitality, generosity, and wit, Leonard Chartier will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy endures in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched.
