Leonard Shapiro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 19, 2018.
Dr. Leonard Shapiro of Canton and Falmouth, MA, passed away on October 19, 2018 in the arms of his wife Tobie. He was a graduate of Boston Latin, Tufts Dental School and BU Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He was a periodontist for 45 years and taught Molecular Biology to graduate students at BU. He was a Captain in the Army. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Tobie (Kaplan) Shapiro, his sons, Michael Shapiro and Gregory White, and was predeceased by his loving daughter Amie Beth Shapiro White. He was the bright, fun and much loved Zadie to his grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan White. He also leaves his cherished sister, Roberta, her husband John Magnasco, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lenny loved to garden and could often be found on the back deck of his house, with his favorite canine companion Eli, talking to the tomatoes while smoking a cigar and reading. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him, and that was everyone. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the angels, Emer O'Shea, Kathleen Nilles, Kathi McCawley Jones and Mary McCawley. Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Monday, October 22nd at 11 AM, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial observance will be at his late residence on Monday following burial until 4 PM, and continuing Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Donations in Lenny's memory may be made to the Pan Mass Challenge, 77 4th Avenue, Needham, MA 02494, Att: Tobie Shapiro or online at http://profile.pmc.org/ts0304.

Many years ago when I had teeth, Dr. Shapiro would do his thing. I am so sorry. I shall never forget during one visit, he telling me that his temple needed an Ed director and I should apply. That was so kind.

You were the best Boss and Friend anyone could ask for! You helped me become the Best Dental Hygienist I could be. You always had a smile. You made us laugh! We had so many Grest Memories at 838! Where else would I be called Ferreira or NEF!
I will miss you my friend. God Bless You as you now Rest in God's Loving Arms.
