Leondis Hylton

Leondis (Leon) Hylton Leondis (Leon) Hylton, age 81, of Raven, VA, died Sat., Jan. 9, 2010 at a Bristol, TN, hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Buchanan County he was the son of the late Isaac Wesley Hylton, Jr. and Mary Ettie Rose Hylton Deskins. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one son, Jerry Wayne Hylton; eight brothers, Frazier Hylton, Ellis Hylton, Charlie Hylton, Otis Hylton, John Lewis Hylton, Henry Hylton, Eugene Hylton, Elmer Hylton; two sisters, Virgie Davis and Della Ferrell; and a great grandson, Zachary Lester. Leon was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Gloryland Tabernacle at Shortt Gap, VA. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Georgia Irene Adair Hylton; one son, Danny Hylton and wife Retta of Buchanan County, VA; eight daughters, Ruby McFall and husband Paul of Dickenson County, VA, Rita Ford and husband Courtland, of Bristol, VA, Regina Keen and husband Harold of Patterson, VA, Beverly and Chester Long of Oakwood, VA, Shelby Davis of Tazewell, VA, Shirley McClanahan and husband Bill of Swords Creek, VA, Shelia Henderson and husband Jeff of Dayton, OH, Keyerra Muncy of the home; a brother, Billy Hylton and wife Shirley of Clifton Fork, VA; two sisters, Georgia Powers of Pineville, WV, Madeline Deskins of Madison Villa, OH; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Gloryland Tabernacle Church at Shortt Gap, VA, with Brother Don Smith and Brother David Horton officiating, Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were the men of the Gloryland Tabernacle Church. The body was taken to the Gloryland Tabernacle Church where friends called after 6 p.m. Monday.
