Leroy Bowman Obituary
He was a retired School Bus Driver with the Greene County School System.
Mr. Bowman was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Mt. Zion's United Methodist Men's Club and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He enjoyed farming, the outdoors, and doing yard work. He was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play ball.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Janis Emmett Bowman; daughter and son-in-law: Valerie and Jackie Roberts of Chuckey; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Joy Bowman of Chuckey and Brian and Cheyenne Bowman of Greeneville; nine grandchildren: John Bowman and wife, Amellia, Greg Bowman, Cadyn, Datyn, and Sylas Bowman, Jackie Roberts Jr., Marissa, Hannah, and Breanna Roberts; sister-in-law: Dean Bowman of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Bert and Della Bowman and was preceded in death by two brothers: Everal "Poke" Bowman and J.C. Bowman; one sister: Loretta Mercer; an infant sister; and two infant brothers.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Charles Huff and Rev. Kristen Burkhart officiating.
Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Gardens. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
His pallbearers will be John Bowman, Greg Bowman, Jackie Roberts Jr., Tim Wright, Tommy Tipton, and Joe Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Mt. Zion Men's Club, Chuckey-Doak Athletic Department, Clarence Ferguson, Maynard Emmett, the nurses and staff of ICU at Johnson City Medical Center, and Dr. Thomas Beckner and nurse Allison.

Kevin, Valerie, and Family
So very sorry in the loss of your father. He was a very special man and I never remember seeing him that he didn't have a huge smile on his face. May the Lord give you peace and comfort during this time and may knowing that others are thinking of you give you strength. Remember the thousands of good times and laugh often over those times. Keven & Family, Please accept our deepest sympathy. Leroy was a great man and I know you had a good relationship with your Dad, those memories will get you through the tough times. He will be dearly missed by so many for the kindness (his sweet smile) he shared with so many. Just know that he is in a better place now and he does not have to suffer and has no more pain may you find some comfort in that. We love you Kevin, if you or Joy need anything we are a phone call away. Sorry I was unable to make it to the service but I was with you in heart (did go by the grave site). You & your family have been in our prayers. The days ahead will be hard for awhile but with time it does get a little easier. God Bless you all.
