LeRoy C. Brandt CHESAPEAKE - LeRoy Carl Brandt, 80, passed away Jan. 10, 2008. Born in Manitowoc, Wis., he was the son of the late Leland C. Brandt and Esther Brandt Wright and was predeceased by a brother, Donald John Brandt. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW, reunion groups of the USS Hudson, USS Laffey and USS Long Beach, U.S. Power Squadron and the S.M.A.R.T. Camping Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Louise Kleist Brandt of Chesapeake; a son, Daniel Jason Brandt; three daughters, Linda Carole Brandt, Cassandra Lee Journigan and Stephanie Anne Seals; a sister, Dorothy Peterson; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Otis Colston will officiate. The interment with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The viewing will begin Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney M. Oman Cancer Treatment Center, c/o Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, 736 N. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23320, American Parkinson's Association, 4560 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 or the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. East, Suite 110, Norfolk, VA 23510.
