Leroy (Lee) Hall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2024.
Leroy (Lee) Kenton Hall, 83, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1941 in Beattyville, KY. He graduated from Lee County High School and later from Eastern Kentucky University. He was an avid UK Cats fan, loved playing golf and also facilitating Bible studies. He served as Head Elder and Elder for many years at his church. Lee loved the Lord with all of his heart and served as a humble example and messenger for His word. He was incredibly genuine with a dry humor, and was well known, loved and respected by many people from all walks of life.

He spent most of his life in the restaurant business and as a restaurant owner consisting of two TW Lee's in Lexington and Cincinnati, three KFC restaurants in Abilene, Texas during the late 60s, and working personally with Colonel Sanders at the Colonels Lady Inn in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He was Vice President of Operations for Long John Silver in Kentucky, owned and operated TGI Fridays at South Park, Lexington, Kentucky, and opened three other stores in Tennessee and Virginia. He also owned and operated five Studebakers in Louisville, Washington DC, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. Lastly, he was a partner of Buckhead Mountain Grill in Louisville and Newport, Kentucky.

Many of his employees remember him as a very honest, hard-working and generous man who was willing to donate his time training and mentoring managers, and employees.

In the year 2000, Lee married Sandy, who he considered his "soulmate". They became a blended family and were married for 25 years until his death. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Christine Bradley Hall, his father, Thomas Kenton Hall and his sister, Patricia Ann Abner. He is currently survived by his wife Sandy, his sons from a previous marriage to Mary Beth Veltkamp, Clay Hall (Amy) and Houston Hall (Dolores); stepsons Trey Sharp (Cherryl) and Austin Sharp (Ruthie); brothers Tom Hall and Jim Hall (Sabrina) and his sister, Gail (Tunia) Farmer and last but not least 12 precious grandchildren.

I met Lee 45 years ago, while he was married to Mary Beth. Met their two lovely sons...vey wonderful "boy."
My husband sand I shared many dinners together, and always had a lot of fun.
He was a very nice man.
Fast forward to Sandy and her sons. They were a very happy couple.
Last time I saw him he seemed very jappy in his life.
Condolences to Sandy her two boys, and to Clay and Houston.

We met Lee and Sandy in 2018 when we joined Middletown Seventh Day Adventist Church. They immediately invited us to their home for Bible Studies. These studies went on every other week until April of this year. At that last study, due to his illness, Lee would need to take a break. He would return and continue our study. Sandy and Lee both love Jesus. Their love and faithfulness was very evident in their every day life. We will cherish our short time with Lee forever. The picture I have included, was taken the last time Lee was able to come to our church service in August. We love you Lee, a true and faithful servant. May you rest in peace until we meet again and have Bible Studies in heaven when Jesus comes to take us all home.

I have know Lee since I was in sixth grade. Lee became close friends of my mother (Alma Kidd) when he, Beth, Clay and Houston moved into our apartment complex. I practically lived at their house. And Lee several times filled the shoes as a dad that my father should have filled but didn't.

Years passed by with us losing touch with each other and then last year out of no where, he contacted me upon hearing of my mothers stroke and wanting to know if there was anything that either of us needed. He did explain that he was being treated for cancer but assured me that everything was on the mend and he was doing fine. I only learned of the truth upon talking to his wife Sandy. This was so typical of Lee. Always thinking of others.

Lee has been and continues to be a role model not only to myself but so many who's life he touched. He was an angel in human form and has certainly earned his wings upon crossing that bridge into Gods Kingdom. You will be greatly missed my friend in physical form but its nice to know that you're still there watching over us all in your new body.
