LeRoy New Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 26, 2025.
Leroy Pote New, 79, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God, Leroy lived a life marked by wisdom, courage, and unwavering commitment to his family and faith.

Leroy was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He honorably served his country as a Signals Security Specialist in the 4th Infantry during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star in recognition of his dedication and bravery. After returning home, he met the love of his life, Carsey. Together, they built a life centered in love, integrity, and faith for over 45 years. Leroy was beloved and admired by his family. Affectionately known as "Pops" to his sons and "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren, he will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and constant support. His dog Abbie still sits at the top of the stairs waiting for him.

Leroy leaves behind his beloved wife, Carshon New; his children, Josh New, Andrew New, Scott Dawson, Gabrielle Mastella; his sons and daughters-in-law, Phil Hajduk, Anthony Mastella, Kelly Dawson, and Elayna Napoli; and his Grandchildren, Jaycob New, Noah Dawson, Joseph Dawson, Chloe Hajduk, Isabella ("Izzy") Hajduk, Skylar Dawson, and Benjamin Dawson - who gave him such joy.

He is also survived by his brother, Don New; his sister-in-law Becky New; his sisters, Nancy Winter and Debbie Schell; and his brother-in-law Roger Schell. Among the many blessings in Leroy's life was the recent opportunity to meet and embrace his long-lost siblings and their wonderful families. Special thanks to Don for reaching out and bringing everyone together at just the right time.

Leroy is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia New, and sister, Virginia Smith.

A family visitation will be held at 2:30 pm, with services to follow at 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hope Community Church, in Moorestown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to Hope Community Church, where Leroy was a treasured member. Donations can be made via the church website at https://www.hope-ccm.org/.

Leroy lived a life of service-to his country, to his family, and to his faith-which will be cherished and honored always.

I was lucky enough to know Roy through South Jersey Rowing Club. Roy was instrumental in founding and building the club from its infancy in 2003.
Roy was the treasurer for the organization who brought a deep knowledge of non profit organizations to the club and worked tirelessly to gain the club a 501C3 non profit status from the IRS.
Rest in peace my friend.

For a Godly man who was a wonderful blessing to my daughter and her family, thank you for being Jesus's hands and feet on earth. May God bless and sustain your loved ones left behind, and may He be your joy and contentment in Heaven.
