It is with great sadness that the family of Leslie McFarlane, announce his passing after a massive stroke. Leslie went to heaven July 15, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Gessell), of 63 years. As well as his daughter, Vickie Davis, her husband Daryl, grandson Ryan (Kim) of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and three great-granddaughters, Josie, Brooklyn and Mackenzie. Grandson Brad Davis and great-grandson Tycaro, plus grandson Travis Davis (Bekki Burton). Also survived by daughter, Gwen McFarlane of Medicine Hat, brother-in-law, Morris Gessell of Delisle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Leslie was predeceased by his son, Murray, in 2006. Predeceased by his parents, Sam and Minnie (Cunningham) as well as all three brothers, Langford (Marion), Glen (Helen) and Gordon (Lorna), and sister-in- law, Judy Gessell. Leslie was born on the homestead, growing up on the farm and attended school at Hillview. Leslie went to Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon where he learned to excel at welding. He married Phyllis Gessell of Delisle in 1953, and raised their family on the farm at Harris where he lived all his life. Leslie was an excellent mechanic and there wasn't any piece of machinery he couldn't fix. Leslie was a great socializer and was loved by anyone who met him. Les and Phyllis retired to Saskatoon in 2011. Leslie will be sorely missed. In honour of Leslie's life, one can donate to a charity of their choosing. Dear Aunt Phyllis, Vickie, Gwen and Families,
We are sending love and comfort to you.
Uncle Leslie was a wonderful Uncle with whom we enjoyed spending time. He was a tolerant man who believed in the basic goodness of all. His caring ways and his intelligent view of the world made visiting with him a real pleasure. Whenever we needed Uncle Leslie he was always there. Uncle Leslie lived a life of giving. He leaves a great legacy of his many, many kindnesses to others as he shared his time, his talents and his wisdom. We loved him and we will miss him but we are so grateful to have had him in our lives. We have such special memories of our times together. May it bring some comfort to you now to know that we are remembering him with much love.
