Leslie Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2024.
Leslie Marie Smith passed away January 22nd at her home. She was born August 8, 1957 in Jackson Michigan as the daughter of Robert Boyden Smith and Mary Kay (Koch) Smith. She graduated from St. Philip High School in Battle Creek, and had an undergraduate and several advanced nursing degrees from Michigan State. Leslie enjoyed her career as a nurse and applied her skills to many areas of nursing including the emergency room, neonatal, and geriatrics. She loved international travel, and enjoyed several trips abroad, but her true passion was her involvement in MSU football where her mother Mary Kay worked for over 25 years. In her semi-retirement years Leslie was a nanny to several families, and loved her relationships with those families and their children. Leslie was preceded in death by both of her parents and is survived by her brother Scott and his wife Cassie. She is also survived by nephews Matthew (Kristin), Jacob (Molly), Christopher and nieces Kathryn and Alexandra and her grandniece Emma Jane. The family will have a celebration of Leslie's life at a later date, and contributions can be made to the Mary Kay Smith Endowed Scholarship Fund through the Spartan Fund at Michigan State University, 550 South Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823. Memorial or tribute gifts can also be made online at https://bit.ly/MaryKSmith.

I met Leslie in elementary school at St Jerome and was a classmate at St Phil. She always had a smile for everyone and a positive attitude. My deepest sympathy to her family. May she rest in peace.
