I recall Les and Neil(Butch) De Mey enthusiastically helping young musicians get their start in band at Hudsonville Christian School. What a great service they did. Les was a great example of a Christian who loved doing his work and it showed! My sympathies to the family.

Lester Knot was one year behind me at Kalamazoo Christian Schools. I believe he was in the very first band that they had..

Lester Knot was a fine musician and his enthusiasm for music was contagious. Our bands at Calvin Christian, under his leadership, consistently earned First Division ratings at District and State festivals. He also taught and directed bands at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for many years. He was a man of faith, character, and integrity. I'll always remember his infectious smile and laugh! May he Rest In Peace and rise in glory. My deepest condolences to the Knot family.

Mr. Knot was a gifted and inspiring teacher who was among my favorite faculty members at Calvin Christian High School in the late 1960s. Grace and peace to the Knot family and to all who loved and admired Lester.

Deepest sympathy to the Knot family. Mr Knot love for music was one of a kind. Mr knot was my Jenison Christian school band director back in the 1980's . I was so blessed to have been a very small part of his life; it was a pleasure. Rest In Peace; God bless

Uncle Les and his family were a beacon of light and hope to my brother and I as we went through our parents tumultuous divorce. They welcomed us to their home and regularly permitted us to be part of a normal, loving, and devoutly Christian family. As I grew older, married, had kids, and faced life's challenges, I often thought of Uncle Les's example and tried to use the many life lessons he taught us all through his life to be the best I could be. His impact in my life is profound and he will be dearly missed.

Your family is in my prayers at this time. I will always remember Mr. Knot as my band director at Calvin Christian H. S. From 1974-1978. All the band trips we took and his constant smile will be always remembered as a member of the trumpet section during those years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Joan and family. Les and Leonard were at Mary Free Bed together last summer and I had fun reminiscing about 5th grade with Dawn (Koops) and you.

I was in band at Calvin Christian HS in the 70's. Les was a talented man and a great mentor to his students. He sought to have every student reach their highest potential. He will be missed.
