Lettie was a hoot! I remember a party she invited me to where she had all these luscious Phillippino dishes catered. I was really enjoying one thing in particular. Lettie came up behind me and had a big smile on her face - "Do you like it?" I smacked my lips and replied "This is absolutely delicious!" She started chuckling in her own special way and said "It's goat tongue." (or something like that). Didn't matter to me being a foodie. Kept right on going. I'll always remember her laughing.

I got to know Lettie at MWRD (work). She brought me into her circle of friends with whom I still enjoy going out. Lettie truly had a wonderful sense of humor, was kind, and fun to just sit and talk with. I have momentos she gave me when she was cleaning out her office upon getting ready for retirement. She was such a vital person. Lettie lived her life to the fullest. Good for her! Someone else expressed that Lettie was a beautiful woman. I guess it goes without saying, she was, inside as well as outside.

Dear Lettie:
I have a very heavy heart knowing you're physically no longer with us and will miss you. Your spirit will definitely live on through so many memories. You were a wonderful friend and neighbor in Chicago. I can still hear your voice and remember your energy and joy in everything you loved in life...your family, friends, jazzercise, traveling, singing, gambling, the arts, etc.
Sometimes I feel like you're just on another long cruise, trip, or reunion, and I'll continue to water your plants and get your mail. I will always think of you when looking at the thoughtful travel trinkets you gave me.
Love and Prayers to you...
To your family: My deepest condolences and prayers to all of you.

A life well lived is a precious gift,
of hope and strength and grace,
from someone who has made our world
a brighter, better place.
It's filled with moments, sweet and sad
with smiles and sometimes tears,
with friendships formed and good times shared,
and laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy,
of joy and pride and pleasure,
a living, lasting memory
our grateful heart's will treasure.

Lettie, during our college class reunion in August 2006 in Hawaii, as always, you provided the jokes that made us laugh even during our cruise. Words are inadequate to express our sadness. But we know a loving, kind soul like you will journey beyond the horizon smoothly. May you rest in eternal peace, Lettie. God bless you..

Mommy,
Even as an adult I still call you "Mommy" but I refer to you as mom to others. Some people, mostly non-Filipino, see that calling you "Mommy" is like a child-like thing. But we all know that it's a Filipino thing and you will always be my Mommy. I'm so glad I had the chance to introduce you to my girlfriend Faye and she's very happy to have met you. It's too bad that our Las Vegas move date isn't until about a year from now. But now you're with Lolo Ben and when we move there, we will visit you and Lolo as much as we can at Palms Mortuary. Faye and I love you and miss you. Please give Lolo a hug from us.

Dear Ate Lettie. The past three years were the closest we've ever been. I'm sorry that they were the saddest and most painful years for you. You taught me deep compassion and unconditional love and I thank you for that. I will never forget how we exchanged goodbyes with "See you later alligator" and no matter how bad you felt, you responded with "After a while crocodile." I'll see you later sister. Love you always, Malou.

Dear Ate Lettie. These past three years have been the closest we've been and they will always be in my heart. I'm sad because these years were your saddest and most painful. You taught me deep compassion and unconditional love. I will treasure the times when I took care of you and became your voice. I will not forget our traditional goodbye when I would say "See you later alligator" and you would respond no matter how bad you felt, with "After a while crocodile." I will always love you Atching Lettie! See you later, Malou.

Lettie was so full of life the whole time we knew and spent with her in the Chicago suburb of Roselle. Singing and dancing and playing with her was pure joy. Just like her parents and her siblings, she was an Arellanite thru and thru. She was the glue in her Class '62 often leading their get-togethers and cruise-reunions. As a mother, her love for her children was beyond question. Her dedication to her profession showed in her loyalty to herCPA Society and even after we parted ways, we always met up with her in national conventions. Our prayers go to her family and we feel in our hearts she's reunited with her Dad but will be missed by her family and those who knew her. Free of pain, she will now rest in peace.
