GREENSBORO — Mr. Lewis Albert Canter, 87, of 3008 Madison Avenue, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013 at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in Mocksville, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Canter was a native of Guilford County and he was the son to the late Noah Lester Canter and to Ethel Childress Canter. He was the founder of Laminated Plastics and Canter Sales. He was also a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps, a scout master of Troop 206 at West Market Street United Methodist Church and a 32nd degree Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucille Bracken Canter of the home; sons, Lewis A. Canter II and wife, Sharon and Eddie Canter and wife, Kim all of High Point; brother, Gaither Canter of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Matthew Lewis Canter and wife Natalie of Brevard, Dustin Lee Canter and Rachel Canter both of High Point and Keleigh May and husband, Joe of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Tucker Lewis May and Emery Caroline Canter.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or to Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 2821 US Hwy 601 N. Mocksville, NC 27028.
