Lewis C. YOUNT, CLU Much loved and greatly admired, Lewis Yount of Bellevue, WA passed away on November 7, 2005 at the age of 88. Born September 14, 1917 in Hartwick, Iowa, the youngest of five children. While serving six years in the US Navy as a bandsman he met his wife-to-be, Grace Craft, and married in Chicago on July 2, 1945. The couple moved to Olympia, WA where Lew entered the life insurance business as a special agent for Prudential. This marked the beginning of an illustrious 30 year career, including manager of the Seattle Agency and the first person to serve as President of both the National Life Underwriters Association and the General Agents and Managers Conference. After retiring, Lew published a book on management and continued to work into his 80s sharing his knowledge of the industry and salesmanship with agents at MetLife and Prudential. He was a founding member of the First United Methodist Church of Bellevue where he taught Sunday school and served on many committees. Lew was a dedicated family man and was known as an eternal optimist who always brought out the best in people. A member of Overlake Golf Club he loved golfing, traveling the world, music, reading and UW Husky games. Lew is preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Hammen and Edie Kriegel, brothers Fred and Claude Yount. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Grace; his three daughters, Nancy Yount, Linda Schnebly and Kathy Mosolf; and two sons, Robert Yount, and Stephen Yount; ten grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Dodge, Brett and Blake Schnebly, Taylor Mosolf, Evan and David Yount, and Thomas, Tyler and Sarah Yount; four sisters-in-law; and 20 nephews and nieces. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 13th, 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 1934 108th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004. Memorials to Alzheimers Disease Research Center at the University of Washington, 1660 S. Columbia Way, Seattle, WA 98108 will be appreciated.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
