NEW BEDFORD -- Lidia Clara (Camara) Amaral, 76, of 103 Stephen St., South Dartmouth, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 16, 2006, at the Savoy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center around 9:15pm.
She was born on August 12, 1930, in Ribeira Grande Lomba da Maia, Sao Miguel. She was a scrub nurse at Mesiricordea Hospital in Portugal. She immigrated to America, August 7, 1971, and became an American citizen in 1980. She was the daughter of the late Manuel & Aldina (Costa) Camara and the wife of the late Jose DeJesus Amaral. She was a communicant Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Survivors include 7 daughters, Sara Silva of Fall River, the late Aldina Amaral of Terceira, Maria Lopes of New Bedford, Fatima Amaral of New Bedford, Ana Amaral of South Dartmouth, Lidia DeSouza of New Bedford and Natalie Conely of Virginia; 2 sons, Jose Amaral of New Bedford, Alfredo Amaral of Fall River; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Connie Demarino, Urania DeAlmeida, Daniel Camara and Fernando Camara.
Her funeral mass will be 9 am Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Arrangements are by the BOULEVARD FUNERAL HOME, 223 Ashley Blvd. Visiting hours will be Friday 5-9pm. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
