Lillian Cobb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 24, 2015.
Lillian C. Cobb

Lillian Catherine Cobb passed away on April 27, 2015 in Eugene, OR. She was 95. Catherine was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on June 7, 1919 to Orland and Lottie Montgomery.

After completing nursing school in Missouri, Catherine moved to Portland, Oregon and married Nelson Schuler, a superintendent of Broadway Cab Company and the owner of several Portland taxicabs.

After Nelson's untimely death Catherine met and married Dalton Treick in 1948 and moved to Eugene, Oregon. Dalton had a successful career as a Eugene area insurance agent after an assignment during World War II as a metallurgist with the Ames Project, a chemical research and development program associated with the Manhattan Project.

Catherine's and Dalton's family grew to include a son, Stephen Treick, and a daughter, Deborah Treick. In addition to raising her two beloved children, Catherine was involved in many civic and church activities during her marriage to Dalton. Catherine's volunteer activities included presiding as general chairperson over several Elisabeth Waechter Guild events benefiting the Pearl Buck School, acting as a family assistant at Sacred Heart Hospital's Intensive Care Unit, serving as a visitor of residents at several nursing homes, working as a Brownie and Girl Scout troupe leader, and serving as President of her church's Woman's League. In her leisure time Catherine enjoyed singing with a local Sweet Adelines chorus, square dancing and visiting Oregon's many scenic areas. Dalton preceded Catherine in death, passing away in 1990.

In 1995, Catherine married a wonderful man, Ralph Cobb, a prominent Eugene trial attorney. Together Catherine and Ralph traveled locally, cruised internationally and celebrated life with their family and friends including the "Gang of Ate." Some of their favorite travel destinations included the Oregon Coast, New York, Alaska, Hawaii, and Ireland.

But nothing gave Catherine greater joy then spending quiet times with Ralph, her children and their life partners, and Ralph's family. Catherine is survived by her husband Ralph, her much loved children, Stephen and Deborah, their life partners, Louis and Keith, and Ralph's children and grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Rest-Haven Memorial Park. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ located at 1050 E. 23rd, Eugene, OR 97405 on Friday, June 5, 2015, beginning at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine's name to a charity of your choice.

Dear Mother I remember you beautiful voice filling our home with song. I was so proud to have a absolutely beautiful lady for my Mother. You always had interesting ideas teaching us about the world. teaching lessons that I'll never forget. you have been there for us all our lives. We loved gardening together and I I still garden. We loved Asian art, tansus ,and bonsais. Thank you for all the trips. We all loved time spent at the cabin. You cook great food on your wood cook stove.
I have been continued going down the spiritual journey you were able to help me learn about Gods teaching. Your face light up when I came to visit making me feel loved and I felt very secure knowing that my life was built on a foundation of good self esteems and integrity........as you said that counts and Im going live one day at a time. I look forward to the day that we meet again. I have nothing but gratitude and eternal love for you Mother.
