On Saturday, April 8, 2023, Lillian Ester Munster was called home. She was 96 years old. Born in De Lisle, MS on March 19, 1927, her family moved to New Orleans when she was a young child. She lived the remainder of her life in the 8th and 9th wards of New Orleans. Working for Wembley Tie Factory for over 30 years, "Miss Lil" supported her family and bought her own home. An accomplishment, of which, she was extremely proud. She lived there for 40 years. She was most at peace in this life in her garden where she drank her coffee and chicory black, listened to the birds and tended her flowers. She passed her love of nature on to her daughters and her granddaughters. Lillian loved to listen to records and sing church hymns. She was in the choir of her Church Blessed Father Seelos where she was an active member for over 30 years. Lillian enjoyed volunteer work. She was a member of the Ladies of the Woodmen of the World. Most of all, Lillian loved her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Ella Cuevas and Peter Robin, both her husbands, Andrew Gleber and Joseph J. Munster, all her brothers and her sister and all of her friends. She closed out her life as the matriarch of her family and the loss of her spirit will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Gleber and Ella Munster-Rivera (Ricardo Rivera), her granddaughters, Lynn Libero, Lisa Beckemeyer and Mignon Barrone, and her great-grandchildren, Daphne, Kirk, Nicholas and Benny. Lillian's long life will be celebrated on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. in New Orleans. Visitation begins at noon, service at 2 p.m., and interment to follow at St. Roch No. 2 Cemetery. To view and sign the virtual register book, please visit www.schoenfh.com.
