Lina A. Belvedere, 81, of Pompano Beach, FL peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 with her loving husband Aurelio by her side.

Born on August 7, 1941 in Rome, Italy she was the cherished daughter of Rosario and Angelina Ioppolo Vitale. Lina was raised in Catania, Sicily where she graduated from L'Istituto Magistrale Lombardo Radice di Catania and met the love of her life, Aurelio. On December 16, 1962 Lina and Aurelio married in La Chiesa di Santa Maria ai Monti, Rome.

Lina and Aurelio immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in February 1966 where they raised their family. Lina is survived by her devoted husband Aurelio, her children Richard, Gabriella and Cynthia, grandchildren Matthew, Natalie, William, Richard, Victoria, Julia and Angelina, and her great-granddaughter Maralina.

Throughout their married life, Lina and Aurelio loved to travel. Lina began her experience by traveling with her three young children to Italy during the summer. As the children grew, Lina traveled with her family to visit new countries and explore new cultures. She also loved cruising the Caribbean with her husband. Lina adored the New York Opera, Broadway Shows and museums all over the world. Lina loved cooking for the family, the beach, playing cards and especially being surrounded by family and friends.

Dear zio, Richard, Gabe, Cynthia & Families,
This is probably one of my favourite photos with zia. She has been an important part of our lives since before I can remember. We are going to miss her very much. I am grateful for the times we were able to connect and that my son will remember how much fun he had learning to play Scopa from his zia Lina.
We are sorry we cannot be closer to you at this time but want you to know we are thinking of you and sending you much love.

Throwback Wednesday:
I´m not sure what year this picture was taken-I believe it was 1993-...This is my favorite picture of my mom and I. We were vacationing on the Island of La Maddalena. I traveled with my parents-just the three of us-many times. This vacation was one of my favorites . I have this picture framed and sitting by my kitchen sink-of all places-LOL.

Thanks mom, for all the laughs and special moments. I love you to the moon and back. You´ll be in my heart FOREVER!!!! Now, another - NUMBER ONE - Guardian Angel.

Nonni,
I miss you so much, it didn´t sink in until I called Nonno just the other day & thought about telling him to interrupt you playing your card games on your iPad cause I was on calling to say hi, but realized I couldn´t. God I wish I could just to say I love you one more time. I will never forget our shopping trip dates, we had so much fun. One day, you called me down from moms & you surprised me with a shopping day, you were all ready to go - you wore a little black hat & wore a really cute black purse, jewelry, really looked put together (as always), I was so proud to have YOU by my side at all the stores. I loved when you used to let me do your make up. I´ll never forget how grossed out you used to always be by all the creatures us grandkids would bring back from Sugar Pond trips - you were smart for leaving those trips up for Nonno. I will never forget cuddling up with you on the couch. I enjoyed your funny stories so much, you had the most contagiously adorable laugh that would actually interrupt the story 100 times before finishing, but never failed to have whoever you were sharing the story with to be in tears laughing too. I could go on and on about things I love about you - I´ll tell you more & more as time goes on, because I´ll be talking to you, everyday. I am so fortunate for our Florida trip in March where we shared tons of funny stories, great food, & most importantly made your famous biscotti together. I love you so very much & promise I´ll make sure Nonno´s okay. I hope you´re having fun up there.
Who loves you?
ME.

Great times with Lena and Aurelio, wonderful friends and
neighbors for many years. Our
many card games of brisk are
legendary. Aurelio was fond of saying: "so Lena what for too loose". We will miss her.

Caro zio and my dear cousins Richard, Gabriella, Cynthia and families:

I am saddened by the loss of my special zia and Godmother. My condolences to you all. She was the most genuine person I know. Authentic and true, she loved fiercely and felt deeply. So much to admire in a person. She always made me laugh, and I LOVED to watch her laugh and thoroughly enjoy herself. She went above and beyond as host to us over the years, as she had with so many others who loved her and wanted to be in her company. The number of people she counted as dear friends is a testament to that. I have so many memories of her taking care of us, especially when we refused to leave your home as kids. She cooked so well, I can still smell and taste her amazing broccoli al forno and the abbacchio that she mastered over many holidays we spent together. Her greatest gift was her example of caring for others without fail and without complaint. I knew that she was beloved to my mom, and to our zia Graziella. My mom cherished the fact that she was thought of often by her niece, and was forever grateful knowing how much she mattered to her. Her resilience over the years when her health impacted her life was truly remarkable. I was in my early teens when she was struck with the first of these trials, and I´ll never forget her resolve to get back to the business of cooking, traveling, laughing, playing cards, being the consummate host and caring for those she loved so very much. My heart is heavy. I love you and will truly miss you, dear zia.
