Linda Cousins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2022.
Linda "Katie" Cousins of Carlisle IA, had her last family get together with her children and two oldest grandchildren on Friday April 8th 2022 at The Village in Indianola. Joyous laughter brought on by discussion of inappropriate subjects and strange family happenings were shared with Mom and Grandma Katie up until the end. Tears of sorrow flowed after until all realized she was at peace and pain free enjoying the big party in the sky.
Linda, preferred to be called by her nickname "Katie" was born on July 8th, 1948 in Knoxville, IA to her parents Robert and Evelyn (Briggs) Harrison. She grew up around Marion County until maybe 9 when the family moved to Booneville IA. She graduated with the Van Meter High School Class of 1966.
Although Katie had many professions in her life, she thought of herself and was best known for being a true "starving artist." She had not one medium of art but several dozen not limited to sculpture, drawing, tating, crocheting, wood burning, wood working, furniture refinishing and others, but she was best known for her fresh flower design and painting. She would never say no to anyone needing flowers for their wedding or a wreath for a funeral. Her landscape paintings adorn walls all over the country. She seemed to be most proud of her ability to paint portraits of people's families or a memorial piece honoring someone who had passed. She would make pennies creating these works of art but became rich in seeing the looks of joy in peoples faces when they would claim the recreation of a loved one on canvas. Katie was also known for her great cooking skills. She could make a delicious meal out of nothing and loved to prepare a holiday feast for family and neighbors.
Linda's parents and her son in law Jeremy "Jer" Hensley went to the party before her. She will patiently wait for children Nicci Coleman (Rob), Tony Rhinehart (Amanda), Jessica Hensley, grandchildren Brandon, Katelyn, Montana, Gage, Paige, Katelynn, Jax, Jantz, and great grandchildren Ryder and Eleanor to show up to someday.
Her friends and family members by blood or marriage can't be left out. She cared for all of you deeply and was appreciative for all the joy you brought her and all you did for her.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Village and Wesley Life Hospice for making her last hours pain free.
A private internment at an undisclosed place will be held this spring. A huge celebration will be held to celebrate Linda "Katie" Cousins this Summer. Watch for announcements on Facebook and be sure to tell those not on social media who need to know.
Lastly, instead of flowers or a memorial contribution just do something nice for someone.

Your loved one was a dear friend to my sister Vickie Hall in Northwood, Iowa. She was always with my sister so I came to know her well. We have had a few conversations in the past few years and I continued to adore her. Hoping I can make her celebration this Summer.

Thinking of all of you at this time as you remember the good times and face the loss of your Mother. Blessings for the days ahead. Your obituary help us see that we did not know of her many talents, but she left a wonderful legacy in her children.
