Linda Filippi-Brancucci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 1, 2017.
FILIPPI-BRANCUCCI, LINDA (HOWEY)
75, "rode the jetstream to heaven" on December 29, 2016. She was the wife of Raymond Filippi and Alfredo Brancucci (both deceased). Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Linda was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Mercedes (Doyle) Howey. Linda was a beloved Art teacher at Hugh B. Bain Middle School for over 30 years, as well as being a celebrated local artist who sold her pieces in many of Rhode Island and California's swankiest gift shops. Linda was not only a great teacher, but an avid learner and voracious reader of books. She graduated from Buffalo State and obtained her Master's of Education Degree from Rhode Island College. Although Linda battled leukemia for 9 months, she never once lost her sense of humor or her ability to tell her daughters exactly what she thought of their shenanigans. She was a creative master of taking old things and making them look beautiful again. Her grandchildren's mantra was "don't worry, Grandma can fix it!" Linda never met a problem that she couldn't solve, and for that reason she was often surrounded by friends and family who came from far and wide to rest in her cozy house and pour out their hearts and minds. Words can't express how deeply loved she was by her family and how deeply lost they will be without her. A vivacious lady who positively LOVED her life, it took 1 chaplain and 2 priests to finally convince her that it was time to go home to heaven. Linda was the mother of Elizabeth Filippi-Bryant, Suzanne Filippi and Mary Filippi. She was the grandmother of Easton Clary, Chase Clary, Raymond "Weston" Opper, Linda Bryant and Victoria "Scarlett" Opper; mother-in-law to her beloved son Mark Opper; sister of PJ Howey and the late Carol Mulready.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Ave., Greenville, RI. Burial will be private. Visitation in the funeral home will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5-8pm. Information and Condolences, TuckerQuinnFuneralChapel.com

Mrs Filippo was my art teacher at Bain Jr High. She was such a classy, sassy woman. So sorry to hear about her passing. May she RIP. ❤

To Linda's Family,
We were so sad to hear of Linda's passing. Linda was a dear friend of my mother's, who also taught at Hugh B. Bain. My sister and I had the same reaction when we saw her obituary. We kind of let out a long, Ohhhhhhhh. My family associates Linda with a lot of laughter. When she was with my mother and other Bain friends, she would laugh out loud while telling some funny story - - my mother was always laughing, the whole group was always laughing, and Linda was smack in the middle of it. Lots and lots of glorious laughter. I hope the ol' Hugh B. Bain gang is enjoying her arrival! (That was a great picture of her, too very representative of her spirit!)

Our condolences on your loss.

I did not know Linda, but through the past months got to know her through her lovely daughter Elizabeth. She was a jewel and a treasure who will sorely be missed by those who were impacted by her joy. My condolences are sent to all who are hurting with grief. She is now at peace but her loved ones are left and need to be supported. Sending love, Heidi Drown
