Linda Livesay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2018.
Linda Lee Livesay, 71, beloved daughter of the late Alice and Norman Livesay, rose up on her angel wings on Friday, April 20, 2018, peacefully and pain-free at last. Her dearly-loved maternal grandmother, Idaho K. Worth, also predeceased her.
Linda is survived by her sister Jan Seales, and brother-in-law Richard Seales, with whom she had lived for the past 17 ½ years. She is also survived by nieces and nephew Catherine, Lisa, Buddy and Laura, and their spouses and children.
At the time Linda was born, the prevailing attitude of those in the healthcare field was to institutionalize those with Down Syndrome because they would "never develop to any extent" and had a life expectancy of 13. Mom and Dad would not hear of sending her away, and despite her disability, Linda blossomed and became a loving, articulate, funny, and joyful person. Although she had no formal education, Linda did learn and was indeed very smart in so many areas. She loved music of all kinds and would happily sing along and dance, and she appeared several times on the Crusade for Children in its early years. There she met many well-known celebrities, but her favorite of all was Lee Marvin, who interviewed her center stage in 1965.
Our grateful thanks to the Hosparus team who lightened the burden for all three of us: Jennifer, Lynette, Cori, Todd, Ayla, Brittany, and doctors Lori and Sarah. You are the angels on Earth.
A special thanks also to Steve and Tracy, who have seen us through so many ups and downs over the years, and to the Norton Brownsboro HealthCare team who have taken such good care of Linda since they first opened.
You are our sunshine, Linda! "Sister" and "brother-in-law" will miss you more than we can say. Enjoy your reunion with Mom and Dad; we know they are so happy to see you again.
Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Westport Village from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, April 29. There will be a private family memorial for Norman, Alice and Linda.
The family respectfully requests there be no flowers, but for those so inclined, please make any donations to Hosparus Health, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.

One of my oldest and fondest memories of Linda was when our mother Jan would take my siblings and me to visit her. Linda would take us to her room, put on records and begin dancing. I loved her uninhibited free spirit and energy... something that has stayed with me though life, teaching me to be unafraid to be true to myself. She will be missed greatly. With much love, Lisa, "deep in the heart of Texas".

Linda means beautiful and anyone who who's met her has been touched with love. The Louisiana purchase will always remember.

In the joy of our time together and our close friendship that connected us from Fort Mitchell to Louisville my entire life, may Linda find peace in eternal happiness, where she has been united with our Heavenly Father and reunited with Alice, Norman and Idaho. We will all miss you. --- Bob
