Linda Solomon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2016.
June 3, 1941-March 7, 2016

A productive, creative, and loving life on this earth has ended for Linda Solomon, who passed gently on March 7, 2016. Famous for her amazing art and having been honored numerous times with awards and commen-dations including Artist of the Year for Flagler County, she was most proud of her part in the creation of her beautiful family. While she was always available with a huge and contagious smile, her face never beamed more beautifully nor did she smile more broadly than with the mention of the name of any one of her children or grandchildren. Born June 3, 1941, to Ida and Frank Shore in Manhattan, NY, she lived most of her life in the New York area. In 2000 she moved to the Flagler Beach area where she continued to distinguish herself as an incredible and prolific artist, as well as one who embraced life through spirituality, humor, dancing, friendship and love of nature. As an ordained interfaith minister she delighted in performing weddings and special services. Her career as an educator spanned decades, and she taught early childhood through adults. Underlying every phase of her life was her passion for creating and teaching art, and she leaves behind a huge collection of her work, as well as budding artists whom she has inspired and instructed. Linda was cherished by her six children and her partner, Sh'mal Ellenberg. She is predeceased by her eldest son, Sheldon Solomon and is survived by her daughter, Karen Levinson from Long Island, NY; Ian Solomon (Marcia Solomon) from Chicago, IL; Jennifer Solomon from New Rochelle, NY; Marc Solomon from NYC; and Ben Solomon of Taiwan. Grandchildren include Heather Solomon, Dakota Solomon, Amber Solomon, Alexia Levinson, Joanna Fishman, Jonah Fishman, Aidan Fishman, Skye Fishman, Miles Solomon, and Sumner Solomon. Her ex-husband, Hesh Solomon and her brother, Stuart Shore have been a continuous supportive presence. Linda spent the last months of her life dealing with declining health and confronting extreme pain. In that time she continued to teach those of us who had the good fortune to be with her that it is possible to push past the pain and to continue to find joy. She continued to attend exercise classes at Fitness One, to attend Dances for Universal Peace, to join in meditation groups, to paint, to teach painting, and to walk on the beach. With her family, her friends and her dear partner, she stayed engaged in living and loving right to the end. Though she was small in stature, she was a radiating light-force who made a huge impact on the lives of all she touched. She was courageous and strong till the end, and she will live in our hearts forever.
