Linda Gayle Thompson

Linda Gayle Thompson, 67, peacefully made her journey to the other side Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was surrounded by family at her home in Pearland, TX. She was born August 14, 1949 in Houston, TX to Bessie and Warren King. She lived in various locations throughout the US, from Alaska to Florida, however she always considered the deep East Texas Pineywoods her home. Linda held two degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. She and her husband, Mike Thompson, owned a construction and rental business for more than 30 years. She is the author of 50 Ways to Keep Your Lover, published in 1993 and her autobiography, Hookers, Midgets and Fire Trucks – An invitation to our party, published in 2010. Through her inspirational books, renaissance art, passionate storytelling, contagious laughter, wacky humor, and love of dance and music, Linda's mission, this lifetime, was to inspire others with her positive spirit. A visionary, wise beyond her time, Linda marched for civil rights, advocated for gay marriage, learned from all religious and spiritual beliefs, accepted and welcomed individuals from diverse corners of our earth, and above all, had an unconditional adoration for children. Known as, Muggy, by her grandbabies, Sky Olivia and Dalton Barrett were the loves of her life. Linda is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Chris Travis; grandbabies, Sky and Dalton Travis; sister, Denise Kaye King; sister-in-law, Lynn Soderberg and husband Aaron; nieces and nephews, Heather Ledbetter, Jarred White, Brandon White, Whitney Robbins, Amara King, Hailey Williams, Briana Cammack and Kendel Lamb; best friends, Ruth Beaman, Diana and Dennis Innerarity, numerous cousins and countless souls on whom she made a lasting mark. She was preceded in death by son, Jace Barrett Cordell; husband, Mike Thompson; mother and father, Bessie and Warren King; and Micah Thompson and Kresta Thompson Hollers, who loved her as, Stepmonster. Consider this your invitation to our party in honor of Linda Gayle. We will celebrate her legacy at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at the home of Tiffany and Chris in Pearland. In lieu of flowers, she asked for you to donate to your favorite children's charity or give her family a tree to plant in her honor.
