I was lucky to have Lindsay as a piano teacher for several years, and she also played for me as my accompanist for many years in competitions and examinations. A kind and wonderful person. Sadly I had lost touch over 20 years ago with her. RIP to a fine musician.

Lindsay was a bright and dedicated teacher and was in fact my Piano teacher for years at St Georges and was my musical inspiration and mentor during that time.

She was also a former pupil of Mary Moore who was my first piano teacher - and it was Mary who introduced my family to Lindsay when I was still in the primary department.

I loved my piano lessons with her - and greatly appreciated her obvious enthusiasm for music and in particular the piano.

She encouraged me to pursue my interest and developed my playing by giving me so many opportunities including solo opportunities and the chance to play duets as well as solo opportunities in the Edinburgh Music Competition as well as playing in chamber music and I had the honour of performing on her personal harpsichord once as well.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet her at St George's summer lunches.

Lindsay was my piano teacher and chamber music coach at St George's for most of my school years; she was the heart and soul of the music department there, she was a wonderful, dedicated teacher who infused us all with her love for music.

I was so glad to reconnect with Lindsay as a teaching colleague later in life and could appreciate her obvious delight when pupils did well.
I will remember her most for her enthusiasm, her voice brimming with excitement even just answering the phone to me.

Thankyou Lindsay.

Lindsay Sinclair was a very special musician and extraordinary piano teacher. I was lucky to have her as my piano teacher for 8 years, teaching me to listen, feel and breathe with the music, take it apart and put it together again, find colour and texture, intensity and lightness of touch. Lindsay encouraged me to perform and explore a wide repertoire, but we always came back to Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev. She was an unassuming person, intensely focussed on music and musicality, her students and her many colleagues and playing and teaching commitments. One of her proudest moments as an accompanist was being requested by Giulini to be his accompanist-repetiteur at rehearsals for his Edinburgh Festival concerts. Apparently, Giulini always asked if Lindsay were available. It is tragic that her teaching and playing career was cut short by such a cruel illness, but she was always well loved and will be remembered with love and gratitude. I shall miss her and always be thankful she was my teacher.
