Lisa Breen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 19, 2019.
Lisa Hall Breen of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away on January 17, 2019, at the age of 58, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully with family by her side as she went on to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lisa married Mark Breen on August 17, 1985. They had three children, Brittany Breen 31, Colby Breen 26, and Carly Breen 21. After receiving her first grandchild, she became known as "Gi Gi" to Calvin Michael Turner, on April 6, 2018.

Lisa was preceded in death by her late father, Wilton P. Hall, of Gloucester, Virginia. She is survived by her mother, Jane H. Carpenter, and stepfather, Kenneth A. Carpenter, of Gloucester, Virginia; and her sisters, Lynn Hall of Richmond, Virginia, Linda Hall of Clarksville, Tennessee, and her stepsister, Coleen Marchese of Yorktown, Virginia.

Lisa graduated from Gloucester High School in 1978. She joined the family business shortly after marriage and served as co-owner of Fisherman's Wharf of Norfolk, Virginia, through 2003 and currently Harpoon Larry's Fish House & Oyster Bar in Newport News along with County Grill & Smokehouse in Yorktown and Hampton.

Love and laughter filled Lisa's home and her door remained open to family and friends. Always staying active, Lisa spent much of her time on the tennis court. Frequent walks along the Noland Trail were also among her weekly routine, many times with a camera in-hand to capture the moment. Her love of gardening and cooking will be celebrated indefinitely, with many recipes created and passed down for future generations.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina remained one of Lisa's favorite places. She enjoyed soaking up the sun with friends and family, a rich tradition that she started over 30 years ago.

Lisa's enthusiasm for life was undeniable to those around her. A strong sentiment she passed to her children was the importance of family, love, and forgiveness.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of Lisa's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, at Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, in Hampton. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Sandy Breen-Bonilla, Coleen Marchese, Larry Algar, and all those who offered their unwavering love and support when it was needed most.

Thinking about you all so much, praying for peace and faith. Lisa had THE best smile, the best side hugs haha and the best advice. She was always snacking on mixed nuts, or green olives, always had the cutest little outfits on, the cutest little remarks to say. She told the funniest stories and loved her kids so much it showed through her smile and eyes when she would speak of them. She was just enough fancy that It didn't take away from her humble personality. She truly will be missed. Britt (mike and baby Cal), Colby, Carly I hope you guys never stop looking for that sweet smile of hers in strangers, know that she is always with you, talk to her, pray with her and most of all love and live through her. Your mommy really was a special lady, thank you for sharing her with us.

Lisa was my walking buddy and a great friend. She was such a creative cook. Our girls had danced together at the Academy and our friendship continued through the years. My son and I worked for a summer at the garden for the County Grill, trying to keep the weeds at bay and we picked an amazing amount of ghost peppers. I will miss her gentle spirit and her calmness. Brittany, Colby and Carly - I am so sorry for this void you now have - cherish all the memories that your mom gave you. She was truly an amazing, beautiful lady!

Lisa, it was such honor to be one of your friends! I have a lot of memories we shared, staying up hanging out drinking coffee at Harpoon Larry's in Hampton before it was opened, the visits and fun times in Nags Head, Larry's lemonade to name just a few. I shall cherish all those wonderful memories we made, it was always a great time just being around you! I know you are in the Lord's kingdom now, no more suffering, praise Jesus! My heart and prayers go out to Brittany and family, Colby, Carly, Larry, and the Breen family. May you find healing, strength and comfort in one another in this most difficult time. God Bless you all. Until we meet again, love you Lisa. PS: Don't forget to save me a seat on that heavenly beach for when that day comes for me.

l struggle like everyone to accept you are no longer here with us Lisa. I was your older Sister, Lynda.
We shared the love of the beach, pets, and photography. For so many years, it was the 3 Hall Sisters: Lynda, Lisa, and Lynn. We comforted each other with Daddy stories after we lost him.
I am thankful Lisa and l had a long talk on the phone in December. We had one of our best talks. Always liked to hear Lisa talk and laugh.
I heard peace in her voice. At one point, l told her that she could be stubborn. She laughed and agreed. We enjoyed pushing the limit. Crashing a creek picnic that we got to by boat. Then thrown out when Lisa fell out of a hammock. We got escorted out because l was laughing so hard seeing Lisa on the ground.
Once we got hot sunbathing at the Yorktown Beach. We got up and went into The Duke of York's Pool without being caught.
We also anchored a boat to get on board of a PTI Naval ship. Just had to get on board. Somehow The Coast Guard didn't catch us.
Those were the days my friend, thought they would never end.

The Perkins family is broken hearted. Lisa is one of the sweetest women we have ever known. And beautiful, inside and out. She loved God, her family, and everyone with her whole heart. I literally think of her and her family every day. With tears. God truly grabs the best way too soon. God bless the Breen family.

Sweet friend, we had some great times on and off the courts.

My heart goes out to Brittany, Colby, Carly,Mark and your families. Lisa's smile was a bright light in all of our lives. I will forever miss my best friend of over 42 years. We made so many memories, shared laughter and had many conversations about lifes ups and downs. I admired her carefree, free-spirited ways. Often I would be hesitant to her adventures only to succumb to her relentless persuasion and realize I had the time of my life. She taught me to squeeze all the fun out of life. Lisa had a strong faith and I know her free-spirit is with her father and our heavenly Father soaring up in Heaven on her greatest adventure ever! Until we meet again my friend! Love to all who had the privilege of being in her life.
